The only thing I think is bullshit about it is how it is going to be payed for. Other than that, they needed to pass it. There is no reason that they couldn't use some of the un-used stimulus money to pay for it.

They shouldn't pass it. They keep talking about unemployment rates, yet keep giving them benefits and more benefits. People have no incentive to work. When I collected unemployment, I milked it out. When it was about to run out, guess what I did? I found a job, imagine that...Oh and it wasn't a great job, but it got me by. Don't even give me this no jobs bullshit either.

Im pretty sure this is intended for the people who have lost their jobs due to the typical corporate American business owners looking for cheaper labor elsewhere.

This isn't intended for the crackheads on the street who got laid off from mickey dee's. More intended for the typical working class man/women who held a position for 10+ years, have a family, and can't find a job. It is because they hired Paco and Jose for half the price plus free taco's on Wednesday night

From the article:
"This would be the eighth extension of unemployment benefits since July 2008, at a total cost to taxpayers of more than $120 billion. "

Well Rob,I've paid into unemployment and worked for alot of years to earn what little they give ya back,I'm not a bum,and sure I milked it out for awhile as well, why not, they give welfare to worthless lazy fucks that can work but don't and they keep giving and giving to them, but the working class that pays/paid taxes all these years deserve what they've paid into. I bet if you happened to get laid off now you'd be a little more picky on what job you'd take now that you have a family to feed-it's a little tough taking care of your family on minimum wage. I'd rather see my tax dollars helping out the people in the country that lost their jobs due to no cause of their own than to see it going to the prisoners that don't deserve the shit they get or the gov. giving to these other countries that don't mean shit to us. I suppose you think the veterans that served this country don't deserve anything either, right? Before you go pissing on the working class America, you may wanna put yourself in their position in these tough economic times.

I've been there man, I'm just saying you don't have to live like a king. Get a low paying job and work your way up. There's always something out there. Some people, well most people live well beyond their means.

Okay, are we talking good authentic tacos or what you'd get at Taco Bell? And could I choose between a taco flex plan and a fajita 90%/10% plan? Are there human resource people getting PHR and SPHR credits in taco benefit administration? I need to learn more about this.

I'll admit. The commodities of yesterday are the necessities of today. My cell phone is paid for, as is my internet along with all the regular stuff, and when one of them has an issue, I might as well have had the electricity turned off. Yeah, it's important. We, in the technology age, are so used to sitting around with 50 billion small things to do that we're hopeless without them. But that doesn't mean my money is squandered

Moreover, that doesn't mean that if I lost my job tomorrow that I should have to go without any kind of income too. After 2 weeks of no income, most peoples' funds are dry. Can you seriously imagine having to go 2 months in this day and age with absolute 0 income? Homeless is putting it nicely. Your credit, after 2 months of nothing, would be destroyed. Enough people as it is are out there working their asses off, and working their fingers to the bone, relying on other things and people to even make ends meet. Some of those same people can't even pay all their bills on time. They, and their families, wouldn't survive if their income was even cut in half, let alone dropped to nothing. And while there are jobs out there, and while we all need some kind of income, those jobs are quickly filled. It's not their fault the corporations they work for are cutting hours, cutting people, or going overseas. They're just trying to keep things going

Rob, don't compare everyone to yourself. When you were without a job, what bills did you have ? How many others were dependent upon you ?

Picture yourself with a couple of kids, a mortgage payment, car payment and the other payments that go with raising a family. THEN lose your job because it has moved to China.

They have also been paying INTO unemployment through out their lives.

He can sell his car or down grade his car, he'd love to have a good job.

Now Rob and Frank gather yourselves for this one. If you give them unemployment benefits, THEY SPEND IT. That's right, they put it back into the economy. The rich are currently hoarding their money.

On the other hand, it can easily be paid for by taking the tax cuts off the table for the rich.

The GREATEST deficit Presidents were the ones who gave tax cuts to the rich. Reagan, Bush and Bush. GW gave the greatest tax cuts claiming it would create jobs. How that workin' for ya ? Those tax cuts ARE STILL ADDING to the deficit NOW !

The Democrats want to create tax cuts for the middle class and repeal the GW tax cuts for the rich. The Republicans are against that. Doesn't that tell you anything ? The Republicans don't give a damn about YOU.

The Republicans extended unemployment MANY times during the Bush administration. Why didn't you worry about paying for it then ? BECAUSE Fox and Drudge DIDN'T tell you and you didn't know or care.

If you look a what I said - "THEY NEEDED TO PASS IT! Its just how it is being funded that i think is ridiculous". The GOP are all for passing it, they wanted it payed for. It is not paid for.. That is the big issue.

As for looking for work - I been looking for four months. I sent out over 100 resumes, not one place has called. On top of that I am still going to school. So the uc helps me concentrate on my studies and not have to worry about where my next pay check is going to come from.

With the way the economy is these days. I am all for giving an extension like this. No where is hiring, and no where is going to hire any time soon.

My only beef is that could have used some of the un-used stimulus money to pay for it.

And there you go again with the Drudge and Fox not telling you Bullshit - Get off your damn horse for once and think. Even when some one sorta agrees with you, you do the drudge and fox attacks. If you are going to start that bullshit, I will stop with this conversation right now ... Sheesh ---

As a note: I been watching MSNBC and FOX - All MSNBC has been doing is the normal FOX is a terrorists Network Bullshit. I haven't heard anything of substance from them yet. In fact, the more I watch that station the more I see why they are the lowest rated "opinion" station on tv. The funny thing is that the only time I see a Republican on is the Christ Matthews show. You never see one on Rachael, the lesbian, Maddow show or the Kieth, The still living with his mother, washed up sports announcer, Homosexual show ..

OK, so regular unemployment has a "waiting week" before you can collect.

Once the 1st 26 weeks of actual paid in unemployment insurance is up, there should be a waiting MONTH before any additional uninsured assistance is issued.

Things aren't even as bad as 1980-82 and we didn't have unemployment extensions back then. While the 2008 liquidity crisis could have turned into the worst economic disaster since the depression, it did not.

Obama is full of shit every time he lies to you and tells you this is the worst economy since the great depression

It was worse after Carter: >10% unemployment AND 18% interest rates.

Is there language buried in the FLSA that says that employers will pay a minimum taco amount? And are we talking hard shell tacos or soft shell tacos here?

Because the ingredients of tacos are exposed and prone to spillage, they require burritos so that there is no spillage.

Well, did you see this where a lot of U.S. money is going that was announced Monday?

US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton Monday unveiled a series of development projects for Pakistan on the second day of her visit to the country, as part of what she termed an effort to “expand the dialogue beyond security.”

Speaking at a town-hall-style meeting in the capital on Monday, Mrs. Clinton announced the construction of two hydroelectric dam projects that will supply power to more than 300,000 people near the Afghan border, an overhaul of the municipal water supply of Peshawar and southern Punjab, and the renovation or construction of three new hospitals in Pakistan’s metropolitan cities of Lahore and Karachi.

The projects are to be funded under US legislation passed last year that increased civilian aid to Pakistan to $7.5 billion over five years. They are part of a broader move to quell anti-Americanism by convincing Pakistanis that the US has a deeper commitment to the country, a key ally in the war in Afghanistan.

I have two positions available at the Popper. Part-time cook 20-25 hours a week; Part-time bartender 20-30 hours a week. You must be available to work any night of the week. We do work with you if you need time off on a particular day. But the cook MUST be available to work every Thursday and Sunday. We will train the right personality. Must be neat in appearance. If you are interested, stop in and fill out an application. More questions, email me lisa@alleypopper.com

Now, I will go back to calling the employment office to dispute these stupid claims submitted because we hired someone part-time and they are getting part-time hours and we are being charged a higher tax rate because it is for so many of them. Oh, or how about the college student who filed against us when she wasn't around to work and left us without notice anyway??? WTF?

Oh, there is a 6 month lag on the appeal process. (that makes me think about how they will handle the back log on the health care issues)

I will get back to you later (home for lunch) but I did see you agree with extending unemployment. I was addressing Rob AND addressing the part about paying for it.

Why aren't you screaming, "How can we continue to pay for tax cuts to the rich" ? Even iff we go back to President Reagan's taxes, that would help to reduce our deficit.

But Lisa, the question is, are you offering tacos (or burritos as Lonewolf suggested) as part of the compensation? In all seriousness, good luck filling the positions.

The expiration of the tax cuts is going to be interesting if they are not renewed. The Republicans are going to say the Democrats raised taxes, and the Democrats are going to simply say that they didn't do anything - the cuts just expired. Neither side is going to be entirely wrong. It's funny how reality is subjective like that depending on your disposition.

Bill, if you keep giving people free money, they are going to keep taking it and not looking for work. Thus the unemployment rate will stay up, thus the retarded politicians will keep extending benefits. There are jobs out there, just people aren't willing to work.

Indeed, because employment and compensation is never tied to an instrinsic sense of pride.
