Flip a three sided coin...

I hate how they give "new" customers all the perks...I've had all three at one time or another...yet every few months they start these incentives for new customers while I have to pay the same rate...that's what's wrong with America....

yet we can't maintain / nor care about what we got.

A friend of mine is 25 and has refused to buy cable...no one likes him.

I would use rabbit ears before Atlantic Broadband. They suck ...

I have all them as well and still haven't found one I like. I have dtv now and am satisfied, to an extent. The wife and daughter like it, so I keep it for that purpose.

Sinking Valley

Post by Mysterytrain »

Not sure if the area really matters but if you're in Sinking Valley I would say to stay away from Atlantic Broadband.

We have had a lot of trouble with the main unit (replaced 3 times so far).

The remote control is a huge pain in the ass. Program guide is worthless, On-Demand buttons are a pain, DVR is poorly designed.

The internet is so-so. Not really any problems but some days seem slower than others.

Hope this helps...

I live RIGHT NEXT DOOR to ABB...they just suck ...period. Cable, Phone, Internet....SUCKS. We dropped the phone service and got the MAGIC JACK...$20 a year...can't beat it. Now if I'm watching YouTube or a video somewhere online it messes up a little but not much...As far as Interenet...Atlantic Broadband SUX!! We are about to just go WiFi and be done with the cable co. all together. IMO... :D

I have Dish and am fairly satisfied, I guess. Only blacked out a couple times in a couple years for a short period of time. One remote died and they sent a new one right away. Their DVRs are nice. When I had cable, I had 80 channels of shit to choose from. Now I have 250 channels of shit to choose from for the same price.

I guess my first post didn't really contribute to your question...

I had Dish and Direct TV at home...
I moved to Altoona and the house had Atlantic BB so we just kept it.

Mind you I must have one of the lower packages cause I have no DVR...I don't think it was available when we signed up.

I liked the interfaces of Direct TV and Dish better than I do the "TV Guide Channel"

I miss the HBO that DISH gave us for free...

With Cable we have the basic channels...I basically watch Pawn Stars and DOG the Bounty Hunter and that's about it.

I think Verizon offers a better Internet package. The only thing I heard about Verizon was my one friend got it out in the boonies and they told him HE HAD to get the highest speed possible . But we have Verizon internet and in 2 years of living here I never had to call them for service. Maybe twice... I had to reset the modem but that was about it. We have a desktop and two laptops and we are very happy with it.

I would say go with the DISH or DIRECT TV.

Maybe you can call them and tell them your tore between the three and one of them with throw in a sweet package!

Hope it works out.

Just remember, satellite internet sucks total donkey balls. Terrible latency, ridiculous bandwidth caps, bleh. I guess its alright for your average web browsing, but someone like me it's about as frustrating as dial up.
Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.

Around here Verizon has a plan where you can get phone, dsl, and DirecTV for about 100 bucks. I really like direcTV. The only advantage dish has over Directv is that their DVRs are shared in two rooms, so if you record something downstairs you can watch it upstairs. If you want to do that with direct, you need two dvrs.

If you can get the verizon deal in your area, Verizon DSL is rock solid and phone is unlimited long distance.

The new Directv MRV (multi room viewing) blows the dual tuner dvr from dish away. All you need is one dvr and you can watch what is recorded on it in up to 8 rooms ...
