Looking to buy a 5 str Bass/Cab for practice

Post by JakeWilliams »

I'm not looking for anything too expensive, but I want to complete my collection of "practice worthy" instruments for me to dick around with and learn. But both the Bass and Cab also have to be good enough to have a jam session/practice with...

Does not need to be stage worthy!

For the most part, I'm looking to get the cheapest Bass/Cab that I can find - that isn't garbage.

If you have something POST IT HERE with price. No need for PMs.

Thanks!

PS. I have a friend (bass player) who's going to help me out and make sure I get a good deal, so just let me know what you want to get rid of (with a price) and we'll go from there.

Thx, for the link. But, this is more than I need, and more than I'm willing to pay for a practice bass/CAB.

As of now, I'm looking at stuff in this range:
$129 for a basic 5 string guitar
http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com ... sku=512229
and...
$149 for a 45W amp
http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com ... sku=481100

Nothing serious, just stuff I can learn/play with. I'm actually just posting to see if anyone around here has stuff they learned on and wants to get rid of because they upgraded to some quality shit...

Lemme know.

Ok, got the AMP. Now I just need a starter 5 string bass and I'm all set. If anyone has a relatively inexpensive 5 string bass guitar for sale, let me know.

If you're looking at brand new basses in that price range, I would suggest checking out Rondo Music. http://www.rondomusic.com/bassguitars5.html For a few bucks more, the two Douglas basses up top would be a much better value than the Rogue you were originally looking at. Rondo also carries the SX line. While I don't currently see any SX fivers on their site, they'll probably be in stock again relatively soon.

Thanks for the link. I'll keep it in mind if I can't find a used bass for around $100.

I'm 2 days away from just buying one of the new Bass guitars that have been recommended in this thread (for $170 or less).

Last chance... If you have a 5 string in pretty good condition that you can offload for less, let me know before I buy new.

Thanks for all your help guys!
