FT MXR Fullbore Metal
FT MXR Fullbore Metal
Looking to try another metal distortion pedal.
This one is basically new in the box w/adapter.
Mxr makes analog pedals and im looking to try
a digital circuitry pedal (ideally a digitech hardwire metal)
will consider most trades of equal value. PM If interested.

What kind of sound are you looking for? Almost no pedals provide a GOOD high gain sound. They do get you into high gain territory, but are usually very fizzy sounding. I looked for some demos of your pedal. Youre not gonna find another distortion that offers anything better. Distortion pedals all kinda sound the same. Some worse than others of course. Really all comes down to what knobs there are and options you have. I honestly couldnt see any benefit of getting rid of the pedal for another that gonna sound very similar...and has less options.
BUT:
Im sure you can get pretty close to the sound you wanted if you added an EQ unit. The more bands the better!!! You can cut all the nasty frequencies out better and add other freq's when you have more bands to shape the sound. Even if you spent time tweaking the controls on the pedal, you will prob find something you are happy with. Alot of the time in high gain guitar sounds, the prob resides in the high frequencies. Very fizzy. When you remove the fizz, youll notice the difference right away.
What amp are you running this into?
What guitar are you using?
What Pickups do you use?
Are your strings new?
What sound are you going for?
These are all questions that should be asked when people are not happy with their guitar sound. All those factors (and more) build a guitar sound.
Btw, another guy on rockpage has a 31 band EQ for sale for $50.
you can shape a guitar sound pretty DAMN good with 31 bands!!!

the pedal you are selling and the metal zones are pretty much the pedal. the one you have maybe a little better because of the noise gate that's built in.IcePick wrote:ive decided that im gonna throw this out there again. if you have any sort of distortion/overdrive pedal or delay let me know. boss metal zone is a plus
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.
im not a big fan of the noisegate on it and i find that its easier to dial in a sound that i like on different amps when i used my buddys mt2. dont get me wrong about the fullbore it produces some great sounds above and beyond what any other metal distortion pedal of its class can do its just not plug and play friendly when it comes to switching amps. i would consider trading for distortions other than metal ones too because i dont play strictly metal
