Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 20 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
In honor of Father’s Day, we saluted fathers on the “Homegrown Rocker,” as well as mothers, sons and daughters of the area music scene on our annual “Father’s Day Special!” We explored local and regional music family traditions, playing songs that spotlighted area music scene parents and their music-playing youngsters; including a number of songs with parents and kids playing together! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Royal Benson and Halestorm, dug a 1985 song by Altoona’s Xeno from the archives for a “Local Music Flashback,” and updated “Local Music News.” And in the “Professor’s CD Corner,” we reviewed Strange Symmetry, the new CD from mom Sherri Mullen and her son Shane Mullen’s new project, SM²; and several lucky listeners called in to win copies!

In Local Music News…
A member of a York-based hard rock band has been charged with criminal homicide following a shooting at an event last weekend. Paul Hansen, the bass player for the York-based band Disorderly Conduct, was arrested after reportedly pulling a handgun last Saturday night and shooting the hostess of a party the band had performed at earlier in the day. The victim, 28-year-old Melissa Barnes of York, died in York Hospital a few hours later. According to another band member, Hansen, who is originally from Baltimore, had just joined Disorderly Conduct recently.
Some former members of the Cambria County bands Tie Down and Crow In The Snow have merged to form a new group. Shake N’Bake features former Tie Down singer Scott Walk and guitarists Tim Eckenrode and Brett O’Donnell, along with former Crow In The Snow bassist Bob Gailey and drummer Dan Way. Shake’N Bake plays music from the ‘70s to present, and will make their onstage debut July 17 at a Cresson venue.
Bedford-based hard rockers Seize Fire have added a second guitarist. Scott Smith joins Zack Foor to provide lead and rhythm guitar duties in the group. Scott’s official onstage debut with the group took place last night at Glenn’s Place in Claysburg.
