I checked them out and listened to some of their stuff. They seem to be viking metal and have a song called Captan Morgan's Revenge. *lol*bassist4life2004 wrote:I wanna know who that band Alestorm is and if it's fronted by a girl named Lizzy Ale

Now, here is a rock concert lineup
Europe is known for their great rock fests!!! Ppl partyin everywhere and there is a LOT more goin on out in the parking lot.
Saw Gary Moore with Marmillion, Little River Band, Loverboy, Chris DeBerg, the chick who sang 99 Luftballons (older person moment) in Wurzburg. It rained all fuckin day long but had a great time.
Of course, Donnington Castle's MONSTERS OF ROCK at Zepplinfeld in Nuremberg Labor Day 1983. Twisted Sister, Motorhead, Saxon, Thin Lizzy, Meatloaf, BOC and Whitesnake.
Trivia time - "Here I Go Again" was recorded twice by Whitesnake. What is the difference in the song?

The original version had a slow synth build-up under the first verse rather than a guitar part, where as the second version didn't have the synth part.Shawn_422 wrote:Trivia time - "Here I Go Again" was recorded twice by Whitesnake. What is the difference in the song?
Here I go and Here I go again lol
I also always have preferred the non-synthy version myself.
Actually, now that I think about it, they've rerecorded a couple of their tunes. The original Fool For Your Lovin' has a much more bluesy feel with a Marshall-like Brittish guitar sound, but there's another version of the song that's more rocked up and has a high-gain guitar sound. I think Steve Vai may have played on the second version.

I have also heard a second version of "Crying In The Rain" which to me sounds extremely weak as John Sykes absolutely made the first version what it was. I could be wrong about this, but someone (Tracy, help me out here!!) told me it has something to do with Coverdale.

I guess my question is a little misleading. The song is different but very sublte in the "Saints and Sinners" LP.

Alestorm is actually considered "Pirate Metal." All of their songs are pirate themed and they've recorded metal versions of old pirate songs as well as their own material. It's definately good drinking music.
