State College Band: Keys or interesting instrument/combo

Post by 4_the_pocket »

A newly formed State College band is looking for a keyboard player or possibly a multi-instrumentalist.

It would be easier to say what we will NOT be playing, instead of what we WILL be playing: We ARE NOT a pop, pop/rock, hip-hop or anything remotely heavy or metal.

We are former members of the old State College band, The Nightcrawlers +2 others. We are not looking to revive that band. This is a new project, but obviously there will be some similarities. Our goal is to play one vertical a week and the occasional weekend gig, stay local, write and record. This project will be a mix of covers and originals.

This is a work in progress and it continues to evolve until all of the pieces come together....hopefully by the beginning of the new semester. This has the potential to be a really great opportunity for someone.

Our first show is May 31st at the Phyrst with the possibility of that turning into a regular weeknight gig. That is not guaranteed and the night has not been decided.

Our current core line-up is as follows:

- Lead Guitarist/Lead Vocal/Songwriter
- Acoustic Guitarist/Lead Female Vocal
- Bassist/Backing Vocals
- Drummer/Backing Vocals
- Violinist/Guitar/Backing Vocals

We (if the music gods smile on us) would like to have keys as part of the core.

We are looking at other unique instrumentalist as possible additions or part-timers: percussion, horns, etc.

We are motivated, friends, and highly excited about the road we are about to go down. We are all very strong, experienced players and this project is as much about having fun, playing great music together as it is about being able to spread our musical wings with the music we write and the covers we choose to play (no Jesse's Girl in this band - no offense).

Our potential new band-mate will:

- Be a solid musician
- Be motivated
- Be musically and ideologically flexible.
- Have excellent gear (an updated keyboard sound)
- Be local, or at the very least, have no trouble or gripes coming to State College for rehearsals (weekly) and gigs.
- Be a team player.
- Have an open mind to ideas, direction and goals.
- Be friendly, not afraid to contribute and willing to have fun.
- Possibly have backing vocals/other instruments (a HUGE plus, but not essential).

- NOT have any substance abuse issues, laziness, drama or a bad attitude.

***If you play multiple instruments well, we would like to talk to you too****

This should be a really cool project. Please feel free to contact me at: arnolddrums @ gmail dot com I dont frequent rockpage often, so please dont PM me as I may not get it quickly.

Please be kind enough to tell me a little about yourself, your musical background, experience, interests, age, location and good contact information.

Thanks!
Steve is the name, drummin is my game.

Steve, that's how a Band Member Wanted classified should be written! You should give lessons on how write that stuff.

I hope you find the right cat for your project.
