This is my last post. I want to thank the few people I got to meet thru rockpage. I did mostly trades while passing my time looking for a band. I've been trying so hard to find players in my area and there is just nobody... And posting ad after ad on here with no workable respond is depressing. So what I'm gonna do is place my complete history on here as a last shot effort. I need to find a band!!!!!
I started as a country/blues bassist. I worked with older family members, playing local shows and small gathering. I did this in my early teens until High school. I then began to play bass in a couple different bands. One was a blues band in the vain of Hot Tuna requiring me to play lead bass like Jack Cassidy. The other band was strickly Iron Maiden, Metallica,Megadeth...etc...
I was consumed with Billy Sheehan By my late teens. I began my studio career at this time. Working in a hole in the wall in Elmira, N.Y. I laid down all styles of bass groves. Everything from Jazz swing to straight up death metal. I did this for almost a year and left for a live gig.
I spent the next two years playing bass for Ian Timothy & Co. We did a countless number of shows and recorded two albums. This was a solid two years on the road. This experience made me one solid bassist.
I joined a band call Ask a Stranger. I was only with them for a short time. It was really cool to play with a band with that big of a stage show.
But the band kinda came undone and I began teaching music.
I taught for a few years while playing bass as a hired gun in about three small bar bands. At this time I also began woodshedding on guitar.
I first hear Stevie Ray jamming around this period and was completely taken by the blues... I had to play like that. I spend a year strapped to a cheap strat till I could. I began doing unreheased live jams with a few local blues acts. Some three piece, some cool big blues bands like "5 Guys Named Moe" I was consumed by the blues.
I then began to write music with a band called "Sticker" I had a strong four years with them. We toured strongly for years and jammed endlessly. In this time period I became a very heavy player and became taken by players like Dimebag. We recorded a few of our own CD's and played everywhere. My highpoint in this band was when Jim Price wrote a cool reveiw of one of our shows in the Pa Musician. He wrote That I was a firey guitarist and showman. After all the years of bass, I finally came into my own as a guitarist.
After Sticker, I played a short stint with a band called "Sever". Great band of hard working guys. But as a word of advice, before you join a new band make sure they're not on the verge of splitting up. It was over before it began.
I then did a one man show for a year called "Onegypsygun" were I returned to my blues Hendrix type of playing and learned to play slide. This was successful but without a band...left me hollow.
So that brings me to now... I will play anything, Lead or Backing guitar. I would be even more than willing to play the bass again. (Tho' I'm shy on bass equipment, but I would get some for the right band.) I also can sing alittle and write and arrange. I am easy to work with. I need a Band!!!!!!!!! I'm located in Ridgeway now and willing to travel about a hour to practice. Will play anywhere!!!!!!
Help me Obiwan... Your my only hope.
