New Look for Rockpage?

Post by lonewolf »

No delineations between posts? No On/Off flags to mark whether you have read a thread or not. Devolution in progress. I liked the old one better.

I think it looks pretty good. Ron has posted that there are bugs to work out... I trust him to do his thing. Change is inevitable, Wolf, you're starting to sound like an old man. :) ----> Another Old Man

Your monitor brightness might be low enough that you can't see them. There isn't much contrast, like I said, there are some formatting issues. Don't worry, by next year there will be a bunch of different theme setups you can use. I'll make a black and white one if you want.

That is controlled by the cookie on your machine, and hasn't changed. It only works as long as you are never logged out. Or the server isn't moved.
... and then the wheel fell off.

I like this setup better personally...The look of it is alot better and different from alot of forums out there which all seem to use the same format...

It might just be me, but the home page pic of that ancient Greek building (the Forum) is gone. It is now my avatar of Les Claypool. Is everyone elses avatar shown where the old forum picture used to be??? Either way, I like it!

Ron thought your avatar was so freakin' cool, that he used it for everyone. Get a clue you freakin' Luddite.

your brother

By the way...the site looks great. We need a different guitar as our spokesman though. Get rid of the orange Les Paul.
My favorite band can do better unison solos then your favorite band.

Its working OK now. The cookies must have cleared with the changeover.

I'll take a black and gold one.

Alright...figured the one thing I really don't like about the change... That you have to go clear to the *bottom* of the Forums to see who is logged into Rockpage. I'm not lazy..ah hells, yes I am. I miss it being in the right corner near the top. ::sniffles:: Other than that, so far so good.
Especially like the avatar thingy.

Hey, I think it's fine. Due for a change! Anyway, all that matters is that Ron gives a damn and we have the Rockpage to benefit the local community! That's what I think!

Ron, awesome job w/ the new CSS & images.

I've just created my first musician's forum, like yours-- based off of the phpbb2, and having toyed around w/ a few styles, i have an idea of what you must have been doing-- which is no small achievement.

kudos to you for putting so much work into something that you're doing for the benefit of others!

i can only hope that i get half the readership / membership participation that you do!

rock on!

The update looks good. Much better than invision board would look, I hate that one. But not as good as VBulletin would be. phpBB is the second best forum software out there though, looks good .. :)

One thing about phpBB is that you have to install to many hacks to get it to look like the way you want ... In the same turn that makes it better also, because then you can have it the exact way you want it to look ..

When I first logged on this morning the greek building was gone just as moondoggy said.

After logging in this afternoon it was there.

I like the look this afternoon better than morning. Maybe it'll be the morning and afternoon additions.

I love the new look, and it's very practical, being that you can now log in from almost anywhere on the site. AND log out! Great job, Ron!! Keep up the good work!!

did you take into account the fact that you gotta pay for vBulletin, yet phpbb is free?
(i am right about that, uh... right?)

i for one am into supporting the free stuff as much as possible. ;)

rock on rockpage peeps! i just feel so much like rockin' right now, it's made me have to go ca-ca! (sorry, guess i didn't need to share that..)

You're right Jeff,
vBulletin is $160 to own or $85 per year lease. It is very nice, but...

I totally dig the new look. It's much easier on the eyes.

Yep , I know it cost money and I know how much it cost. I own a license of it ;). As I said phpBB is the second best forum software around, I like it a lot. After using phpBB, Vbulletin, Invision Board, Ikonboard, UBB, and UBB Threads I can come to that conclusion.

If I was not using VB I would deff be using phpbb. Good job on the board Ron, it looks very nice .. :)

Ron the site is great as always but you really gotta ban Toonarockguys pic of the wrestler with the balls that just isn't right, it kinda freaks me out, maybe i'm just homophobic but it just isn't right

Yeah! I'm afraid someone at work will see the act of self-teabagging and think it's a gay porn site!
BTW, a guy here at work got an e-mail joke a year or so ago, it said to turn up your speakers because it was weak audio, and when it loaded, it's super loud saying, " Hey, everyone, I'm looking at gay porn!" Inside 10 minutes it was in everyone's e-mail except the boss...----->JMS

What's wrong with gay porn? I'll have you know that the mature love picture that is standard on any site is actually quite beautiful... I mean.. their heads pressed together while their heads are pressed together while... er.. never mind. I'm getting that look, I know I am.

Anywho... I like, Ron, how you now have the "who's playing" section with a highlighted name that links from the name to their webby. That my man, is the shiznit. Very much easier then looking to see who's playing then going to "finda-band" then going back...
::pouts:: Still want the "who's signed in" at the top of the paper. lol.
And I like seeing my avatar there...and the guitar you've always used... so.. don't listen to them.. just listen to me! ::beams::

This is great!

It isn't too bad.

It's really not all that good.

I hate it.

Boo Boo!
