Yes, but I'm still waiting to see if my Blue Shield plan even qualifies.tornandfrayed wrote:Isn't it true that you can still go right over to Blue Cross and buy Healthcare?
Out of 2400+ pages, this law didn't even bother to define the minimum terms of coverage. Guess who gets to decide? A bureaucrat at the IRS.
IRS agent knocks at the door:
"Hello Mr. Lonewolf. We have determined that your health insurance is insufficient under the Supreme Soviet Socialist Healthcare Act."
"But Mr. IRS Agent, I rarely even catch a cold. All I want is catastrophic insurance in case of a serious illness or lengthy hospital stay."
"Mr. Lonewolf, your catastrophic insurance premium is too low to make a significant contribution to the insurance pool. Therefore, we must order you to upgrade your insurance plan to cover all possible risks, including doctor visits."
"But I don't need that level of coverage and it will triple my premium."
"Mr. Lonewolf, we have determined from IRS records that you can easily afford the higher premium and you are hereby ordered to comply. If you feel this order is in error or could bring undue financial hardship, you can file a request for relief. Once it is processed, we can schedule your full IRS audit to determine your new health insurance requirement."
