WTF are you saying? I can see this snowfall as an equal parallel to '93 easily. Okay, but maybe not for you but whatever!Jim Price wrote:Yeah, this one isn't nearly as bad as the blizzard of March 1993. I had to drive home from work just as it was starting to ramp up, and there was 8" on the roads by the time I got to my house. I couldn't get up my hill at that point, and had to ditch the car in a neighbor's driveway below my house.
A few hours after I walked up the hill to my house, I realized I forgot something I needed in my car, and went back down to retrieve it. By that point there was already a foot and a half on the ground and brisk winds, and it was all I could do to walk back up the hill to my house; I was exhausted!
Of course, that storm dumped 3 feet of snow not just on Altoona, but much of the eastern half of the country (including Alabama, J Michaels!).
Snow
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
i too heard about this storm about 5 weeks ago, they said the middle of feb, but damn.

I remember the '93 storm, we shoveled from dawn 'til dark, and you couldn't even see the street, the snowpile was taller than me. We worked for hours on one parking spot that had been plowed 6 ft deep, and when someone took that spot before we pulled our car into it, my wife went all "Falling Down" on the guy. I thought she was going to commit a murder, and I'm only exaggerating slightly.
On a related note, Friday afternoon, I bought one of those bent snow-shovels that are supposed to be easier on your back... Definitely worth buying one. My back only hurts slightly today, and I think that's from playing Wii games.

The '93 storm was so widespread and so bad that the governor shut the state roads down for use by emergency and official vehicles only. Anybody caught driving without authorization was ticketed. That's the only time I can remember this happening.
Penn State also closed their offices due to snow for the first time ever.

Sorry to break it to you, but Easter 1978, I offered to, and gladly took a slippery walk, to inform my phone-less brother that although electric was out due to the storm (which left a Winter-like wonderland of Snow covered with ice), dinner was on. That was due to our mom insisting on keeping her beloved propane stove when we moved the previous Autumn (from the place in Duncott my bro stayed in and rented, to the home our parents bought up Schaeffer's Hill). I recall the Trees looked so beautiful...
