Hypnotized to quit smoking

Post by Banned »

I see ads sometimes that there are sessions at the Holiday Inn in Somerset. I was curious as to if this works or if you know someone that has had this done, I want to quit!

Save your money. I know some people who did this. They were all smoking the next day.

I don't know if they still make them,I heard they don't,but I used Quest cigs to quit about 5 or 6 years ago, haven't touched one since and don't miss it at all. They had 3 different levels of nicotine-low,extra low and none. I smoked about 3-4 packs of the lows, then the extra lows and by the time you bought the ones that had no nicotine you didn't want them anyways. :D

I tried Chantix, didn't work. Nicotine gum kinda cut the craving while you're chewing it. Then last November I caught pneumonia. Haven't had one since.

Sanchez is right. I did sound for a "hypnotist" once. BOGUS! The whole scenario works on the apparently correct assumption that a certain segment of the population plays along with the charade because they like the attention that comes from it. Like how some people seem to enjoy the attention they get from being sick, and suddenly they're sick alot. Anyway, other people see the first group and figure, "hey, it works for them?" It doesn't. Maybe some do wind up quitting smoking (or nailbiting, or whatever), but not because of the hypnosis, more because they now have a good motivator to make them quit (the group experience). It's a party-trick. The same "hypnotist" also did mindreading and sleight-of-hand tricks.
There is a talent to it though, and he was a great entertainer. The talent is cold-reading people to know who will be a good "subject." He would always get 20-30 people onstage, then weed out the ones who wouldn't play along with the game, and sent them back to their seats. It was a combination of new-ageyness and good old Vaudeville, and the dude packed them in night after night, year after year. I applauded his ability to use his audience, and still wish I could have such effect.--->JMS

Thanks for the help guys, i'll look into quest and see if that works. I don't know where I can buy pneumonia so that's out of the question. I'll update you guys cause smoking is killing my mom right now and I just need to kick this!

quest cigarettes can work if you truly want to quit. i quit for a couple of weeks with them, but i was asked to quit at the time so my will wasn't with it to truly quit. try that and some gum, walmart has their version of the gum and patch for like a third of the price.
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

I'm not a real big believer in hypnotism. Speaking from someone who tried a lot of different ways to quit, except hypnotism. The best way to quit is cold turkey. If you really want to quit at that point you will.

i've always been amazed at how much people pay for a pack of smokes. i'm sure some of you who have quit can attest to the fact that they saved some money.

Yeah, especially when the monthly cost of cigarettes is more than your mortgage.

Here's what I did and I have been nicotine free for over nine months.

Quit buyng cigarettes, bum for about a month (weening period), then stop completely. Probably the cheapest way to quit. Quitting sucks bad, but if you can get through the first two weeks of misery, you got it licked.

I just set goals and kept telling myself that I can do it. First I set it for a week. Then I set it for two weeks. Then kept telling my self that if I can go a month without a smoke I can quit completely. Haven't had for over a year and a half now ...

Nicotine gum and patches WORK. I smoked for 17 years and just quit on 1/5/2010....it wasn't even that bad! I refuse to pay $5.50 for a pack of smokes!! Good luck to you.

This is true medically, as well. After that, it's completely psychological, no more physical cravings. You just have to be stubborn enough, and musicians are NOTORIOUSLY stubborn and single-minded.
I've said here before, my parents each had 2-pack-a-day habits, and when they quit, they used their smokes money to pay off a $25,000 bass boat. That was the point when I realized there is just ZERO upside to smoking. Kudos to the successful nonsmokers.--->JMS

90% of quitting is 75% mental.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.
