Fun Police Hit Marty's Pub
I was at Marty's Pub in Marstellar last night to listen to my old buddies "Billy and the Inmates".
They had a very small PA and quite a few loud adoring fans. About 12:45AM approximately 12 uniformed gentlemen with "Liqour Enforcement Police" jackets stormed the room.
They said that they were outside in the parking lot, and they could hear the band. Not only that, but they could hear the crowd noise from outside. They took the club owner and the band leader outside and read them the riot act.
Everyone came back in the club, then the police said that the band was free to go ahead and play, HOWEVER they would be outside listening for both the band AND crowd noise, and if they heard either, they would prosecute both the club and the band.
Well that ended it all. The band started packing up.
Just thought everyone should know.

That's funny because the same thing happened to us last night with Naked Beggars at Beer Bellies. Cops came in, took Inga and Eric Brittingham outside with our drummer and gave them hell, wrote them a warning and told them that if they had to come back before 2, they would prosecute. What a lovely state of affairs for live music, isn't it?

Is anybody else besides me game for taking this petition around to gigs? How badly do you want this situation to change?

Friday's Child was in the middle of their last song when the State Police showed up to have a few words with us. They made me show them my drivers liscence so they could get my name and address. Back in the kitchen, they told the bands drummer if they came back the next time the band was playing and it was too loud, the band would get a fine. They told me if they came past the bar any night I was working there and they thought it was too loud, I would be charged with disorderly conduct. They threatened numerous different charges towards The Castle Pub.

This is bs to the max. I love the fact that there is domestic abuse going on in homes unpunnished. Drugs being sold to kids going unpunnished. People walking the streets in clothes that should have been burned and burried in the backyard (pull the pants up and wear a belt...and leave that stupid looking double layer pimp shirt in the closet...check the color and your age)...and the fashion police are definitely not punnishing them. But to be a musician anymore...that's a true crime. We promote drinking and smoking....sexual acts...obscene language....and body damage (hearing loss). We are truely dangerous criminals. We should be shut off and locked up. ::rolls eyes::
Anyone want to pitch in some fundages...we'll buy a bar and a liquor liscense and then sound proof the hell out of the walls. Actually... if I could ever get the money to do it, that's the first thing I'd do. Get my self a place of establishment and set up and music club. Anyone got a couple thousand they could lend me?

Ya know this has been on my mind pretty heavy and it is kinda odd that 3 places ( maybe more we haven't got word on ) locally had trouble over the weekend. Obviously somebody has a problem with live bands ? Is there something going on here? Is a higher up official putting pressure on these incidents ? I find it very hard to believe that there isn't a connection here.......... Someone is definalty out to hurt the live music scene. Any thoughs?
And ............. sounds like they moved from fining the bar owners to threatening us with the fines?
Are we responsible to bring in a soundproofing crew before we play?
I guess we'll all be going acoustic......... or get electronic drums and play so quiet that we can't hear our monitor over people talking?
