A musician took his 7 year-old son to band practice

Post by moxham123 »

A musician took his 7 year-old son to band practice. On the way home, he asked his father a question about the band:

Son: "Dad?"

I: "Yes?"

Son: "How do you decide who sings each song?"

I: "Well, generally the person who introduces the song to the band is expected to take on singing duty."

Son: "Oh!"

(30 seconds later...)

Son: "Dad, maybe you should be introducing more instrumentals."

Kid says "Mom, when I grow up I want to be a musician"

Mom says "now son, you can't do both."
Keep on keepin' on,

When I was about 4 or 5, my Dad took me to see my Grandpap conduct his choir. When it was over, I asked Grandpap:

"Why you shake the stick at those singing people?"
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

This reminds me of a good memory that I share with my son. He was about 13 years old at the time and playing sax and piano he stared at 10 years old. Well the story is the band I was in at the time (Homers Army) we were playing a benifit for a local woman with cancer and my son came to the stage and he got to play sax on mustang salley with us. He had the time of his life, at the end of the song a friend of mine was in the crowd and gave him a 20 and said "anyone playing sax that well should get paid for it" and that has stuck with him, that summer we played the hastings church picnic and he asked if he could set in and he did. Now he is a senior and playing the district concert this year.
