Best Gig This Year?

Tell us about it!

Mine was either the Remington Ryde fest with Rhonda Vincent (actually Rhonda & Co. weren't all that impressive, but the crowd sure seemed impressed with Mama Corn!), or our Sat eve set at Smoked Country Jam, after an all-day monsoon cleared out and we were treated to a huge enthusiastic crowd.

for me, it was the marty scrap benefit show. friends old and new came out for that one. aldo's was absolutely packed and the bands were just incredible. i was glad to be a part of it.

I think it had to be our beach party at the Osceola Hotel. There was a lot involved in getting it set up, but was worth it. The people partied, and seeing all those chicks crammed on that home-made stage in grass skirts and clam-shell bikini tops with the fog everywhere was just insane. Not to mention our guest vocalist Rob from Bad daze just rounded out an awesome night. We have other plans in the works for 2010, but can't release anything yet...it's gonna top the beach party for sure!!!

I would have to say our top 3 were:

1. The grand re-opening of This Is It banquet hall with radio personality Sandy Dee, a sold out crowd, and a nostalgic video show and dance.

2. Opening for Pure Gold from PBS TV at the Portage Area Summerfest for a crowd of several thousand people.

3. Playing at Lakemont Park for the Altoona First Festival.

Highlights were Canal Basin Park in Hollidaysburg in August, Christmas Eve at First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg and Rock The Lot.

But, no one gig was anymore important than any other because every time I play I know that God is using my talents to further His Kingdom and inspire those who are called to Him. Every time I tear down my equipment, I feel like I have made a difference in someone's life even if it isn't immediately evident.

I can't wait to see where I am lead to serve in 2010!

Well, it was a bad year for me with both my younger brother and grandmother passing away.

The best gig for the band would hands down have to be the Annual Chuck's Farm Sunflower Festival in Rebersburg, Pa on October 1st. We went on right after our good friends from Mysterytrain, played from 1:45-4:30 A.M., carried my 300lb.+ Hammond organ through 8 inches of mud just to get it on stage, and we performed in front of most of the 4,000 or so people there. Oh, and we got stuck in the mud 5 or so times just trying to get into the madness that was this show!

Other highlights from this past year for us include playing some benefit shows, Wing Offs, Zeno's in State College on Thursdays, Summer's Best Music Fest in State College as well as the many other outdoor festivals we took part in including the Cosmic Jam last June where we played with the likes of Mysterytrain, Mama Corn, Harold Taddy, Steam City Riders, and the Hurricanes.

The new year is looking up for us, too and I hope everyone has a great 2010!

I also hugged Dirty Sanchez at a Wing Off show.

Have to say the most memorable gig this year was at the state correctional institution in Forest county. Inmates are usually the most appreciative audiences!

August 15th was at the sterling hotel with Mortician which was cool to play with a band that has so much history.. July 2nd we played the Crocodile Rock Cafe with Arsonists Get All the Girls, Terrafirma, See you next tuesday.....And November 28th we played the Sonar Club in Baltimore with Throwdown, Bury Your Dead, ABACABB, For Today, THe world we knew and in Alcatraz 1962 those were probably the top 3.

I always love playing the Hillbilly metalfest Rippin from Neocracy always sets up, no matter where they have it in central pa kids pack in and there are always great bands.

I also loved playing at Alley Katz in Richmond Virginia on our fall tour, lots of kids were there and the venue itself was amazing. Sweet stage, lights, and crazy awesome sound.

My band, Mid-life Crisis headlined a show at the Pittsburgh Hard Rock. That was a real cool gig.

like buck said the osceola hotel beach party. it took a lot of work. and with him being so far away the drummer and i did the work of three for set up. but it was worth it. the Hotel Rules.
