Don't forget a smart shopper is also going to be somewhat of a feature shopper as well. You have the advantage over a bigger house of making "options" out of many things. Then you'd only be stuck having to raise prices on those who want the feature :)

I might still have my Eagle file of the board I used with the SSM2142 if you want, I'll start looking if you're interested. It solders directly to the back of a Neutrik NC3MK-V PC mount Male XLR jack and almost completely fits on the back (nice neat module). Only requires the chip, two ceramic caps, and a four wire connection (as long as you have a +/-9V power supply handy already, should work down to 4V though).
