I'm gonna tell it like it is....
PSU sucks. I'm done being a fan of theirs, for now. Until they can put together a win on a decent team, I'm not rooting for them. It's the same old story every year.....Play a few shitty teams, then lose to a halfway decent team. EVERY YEAR. Penn State is mediocre at BEST! I can take losing if we actually manned up and played good teams. Then I would root for them and lose with honor. It's so ridiculous that we beat up on small time schools and get a good ranking, then we lose and everyone is like, "What happened?" I'll tell you what happened, PSU sucks and play no one every single year, I'm done with the bullshit.
Have a good day!
Have a good day!
i personally don't like college football, ill watch penn state because its local football, but if they lose oh well im just going to go about my day. i just don't understand the ranking system, and how can you root for a team that will only lose one game and be ranked 17th, while another team only lose one game and be ranked 8th. also how can you rank teams 2 weeks before the season begins? i could rant on for hours about college football.
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

I was a bit skeptical that PSU could punch a ticket to any national title this year, and that conversation can now be silenced after the loss to Iowa.
The best analysis I heard after the game was simply that Kirk Ferentz and Iowa out Penn Stated Penn State. Look at how Iowa won...defense and special teams. That's JoePa's mantra year after year.
The weak non-conference schedule will now haunt Penn State as far as playing back into national title contention goes. Even if Penn State could run the rest of the table (doubtful), their weak non-conference schedule will doom them in the BCS. They may still get to a New Year's Day or BCS bowl, but it won't mean anything as far as national title is concerned.
As I see it, it will be at least 2-3 years before Penn State will be in the serious BCS argument again (by serious, I mean national title contention). Next year, they break in a new starting quarterback and replace key defensive players, and their second game of the season is at Alabama. The next two seasons will probably be rebuilding seasons.
As for this year, I'll go on record as predicting Florida vs. Texas for the national title game. Or maybe Florida vs. Oklahoma if the latter would win the Red River shootout against Texas in a few weeks. (Even though Tim Tebow got knocked out of this week's game vs. Kentucky with a concussion, I get the feeling he'll still play in two weeks vs. LSU, seen by many to be the lone real obstacle to Florida getting to the championship game.)
For now, PSU will have to be content as being the number 1 party school in the nation, because it won't be happening in football again any time soon.

You guys sound like typical Steelers/PSU fans. When your winning you are the best and according to you the best teams(s) ever and when you lose its always something or someone elses fault. I am not a steelers fan but every one i run in to i ask if they like the pirates and they usually answer no to which i reply how can you like the steelers and not the pirates. Everyone is a front runner and never admits to or likes their team when they are losing.

I personally will remain a PSU fan. I will be for a long time to come. Got beat again by Iowa but oh well. Its 1 loss. A bad loss but shit its only one! I still think they will finish out the season with a decent record and get a good bowl game!
We got all highed Up and somebody put the car in the Pool!
Finally, someone sees things the way I do. Thank you.nitekast wrote:You guys sound like typical Steelers/PSU fans. it's definitely frustrating, but i love my favorite teams regardless of their record.
iowa's team is a lot more balanced than people were thinking. plus, daryl clark played poorly.
hopefully PSU can bounce back and finish the season strong. they can still take the big 10 title and hit a new year's day bowl. so stop bitching.
It's interesting to note that the pollsters were kinder to Penn State than they were to California and Mississippi in the new poll. The Lions fell 10 spots to #15, while Cal and Ole Miss fell 18 and 17 spots to numbers 24 and 21 respectively. Miami was treated slightly kinder than Penn State, falling 8 spots to #17. Miami entertains Oklahoma on Saturday, so their stock will either rise or fall again dramatically pending the outcome of that game.

But if the Buc's suddenly get good, you'll see their fans come out of the woodwork. Where were all of the Penguins fans 5 or 6 years ago......Exactlynitekast wrote:You guys sound like typical Steelers/PSU fans. I think this is a good outlook! I also believe that if your a 'fan' of a team it makes sense to remain by them. Unless they completely change drastically. PSU is the same team they were back in 1879 when Paterno joined. They probably always will remain the same type of team for the years to come too. Look what happened in 94....Nebraska National Champs! But PSU was undefeated too with a schedule probably just as tough.UNEARTHA7XMatt wrote:I personally will remain a PSU fan. Sad to say but Im also a Huge 49ers Fan. Wont ever stop either. I dont care how bad they suck every year I still root for em. Not to mention they started 2 and 1 this season and are looking pretty decent!banderson wrote:I think this is a good outlook! LOL 49ers - I thought I was the only die hard 9ers fan in Pa....God they've been terrible the past few years...but I still pull for them! I'm still a Steelers fan first though, my ideal superbowl would be steelers vs the 49ers. As far as PSU goes - I have to agree w/ Jim Price - he pretty much painted the picture for the upcoming years. And finally, the Pirates? - it's baseball -Even the players have a hard time staying awake during the games. Although, I will say that if the pirates won the world series tomorrow, it still wouldnt make up for the last 20 years of crap, and as a result, I still wouldnt like them.
Lowly as they have been since the early '90s, I'll continue to root for the Pirates in the futile hope that they someday turn it around. Some analysts say the Buccos might be contenders by 2011 or 2012; we'll see.
As I've told other people, though, I have no intentions of attending a Pirate game again until they have a better-than-.500 record AFTER the All-Star Break!

Not a fan of the Succos, bur I will say this: everyone who is even a passing baseball fan should go and catch a game at PNC. It is a wonderful facility, and you can get some kickass seats for about 30 bucks. Plus, Manny Sanguillen has an AWESOME carribean BBQ spot right outside the CF wall, and he's there most home games for autographs.Jim Price wrote: As I've told other people, though, I have no intentions of attending a Pirate game again until they have a better-than-.500 record AFTER the All-Star Break!

Until they trade everybody with a .290 or better BA and/or 20+ HRs for $50,000 and a few single-A teenage prospects.Jim Price wrote:Lowly as they have been since the early '90s, I'll continue to root for the Pirates in the futile hope that they someday turn it around. The only thing is, if everyone keeps going they have no incentive to build a winning team.ToonaRockGuy wrote:Not a fan of the Succos, bur I will say this: everyone who is even a passing baseball fan should go and catch a game at PNC. Fans should get pissed when their team is losing in pro sports. College however, not so much.
