Well as I see it the political posts are nearing an end on this forum,and although alot of you were VERY irritated about them being here I for 1 am happy that it was available, although I do agree it's a music / musician forum having a place to vent and give opinions was cool, it also gave folks a chance to see where everyone in the local music community stands politically. So up the irons my friends we will have a decision by Christmas.

Having said that I might as well go on about where I am tonight , it's almost 11 pm and I'm starting to see it happen , all evening when the bush electoral #'s were climbing steadily there were NO problems NOW that things are slowing down AND some of the swing states are looking bad from a republican stand point.. the reports begin.. Florida has announced that they don't think absentee ballots can be counted before Thursday even though Iowa has twice as many absentee ballots and are assuring they will have them counted by tomorrow early morning. Where will this end ? If you lose YOU GODDAMN lose !!! I mean I would love to have Kerry in the White House BUT if he looses ( fair and square ) then he looses. If 2000 happens all over again we as a country need to rethink the entire system! Pa. was just announced as a win for Kerry glad to see atleast my home state has done it's homework and made a wise decision.

I'm glad also, its a place where opinions of our peers are expressed on issues that matter, even though some people who will remain nameless had to get into the mud slinging end of it.
I've never voted before and I voted this year probably largly in part to all the discussion on here.

Well Well Conservatives you get your 4 more years let me first say Congrats.. Now the question is 4 more years of what? WAR, A DEFICIT THAT WE MAY NEVER RECOVER FROM, A DYING ECONOMY, MORE PATRIOT ACT STYLE LEGISLATURE, YOUNG AMERICANS DYING FOR OIL DOLLARS AND HALIBURTON. Yup we truly have WON ! I have to tell you and I swear this not to be an exaggeration .. This morning I am embarassed to say I'm an American !

I, on the other hand, am proud to be an American! Common sense narrowly prevailed and I salute all those who turned out in record numbers on both sides.

As an aside, I again lost my voice in PA because the Democratic party in Pittsburgh and Philly buses the homeless and senior citizens to the polls telling them Bush will take away Social Security and welfare. Check ou the county-by-county maps of PA - it's ridiculous.

While I disagree with some of the opinions posted on this board, at least they're well thought out and competent. Those who vote on one issue only (in either party) or from a grossly under-informed persepctive ought to stay home.

The ultra conservative movement is gaining a
dangerous momentum and power. Bush had four
years to unite the country. His method of
choice was fear and intimidation. Junior
latched onto the "War on Terror" and ran
with it. Perpetual war & fear to control
the populace. It's classic. He is in
control, he's never wrong and he doesn't need
to bring anyone together. Hasn't he demonstrated
that over the past four years, domestically and
globally. He is the "ONE".

I think Adolf won popular vote too but was that
a good thing?

We're slipping into the dark ages again when
the "Right" was never wrong. Have you ever
read the "Foundation" novels by Isaac Asimov?
Or "The Demon Haunted World" by Carl Sagan?
"The DaVinci Code" is another interesting one.

The slip into darkness can be quick & easy,
we've had one foot in already and just took
another step. Unless we're quadrapeds, I think
that sick feeling in my stomach is the roller
coaster ride downward.

Kerry Conceding at 1 pm. I'm glad as a democrat to see that Kerry and the democrats had the decency to say "yes we lost" rather than have his brother put pressure on local politicians and make the entire country recount and recount until magically he won. Hail Kerry !

I too am glad we had somewhere to talk some politics. Yeah, this is a message board for music, and I will say this again - what is music if not the passion inside the musician coming out. Whether about love, money, religion, politics, hatred, life experiences, etc. It is what music is made of.

And, yes Bobby, Kerry did win Pennsylvania. But, I was glad to see that my own county (that went to Gore in 2000) had voted for Bush 51%. And, I was really glad to see the intelligence displayed by the Blair county voters who voted for Bush 66% (Two to One!!!) Of course, when you really look at why Pennsylvania went to Kerry you have to take into account our two biggest cities: Pittsburg (57%- Kerry) and Philly (81% - Kerry). And, what does Philladelphia county have more of than we do? It has a much higher rate of welfare recipients and of course..... A much much larger volume of "minorities". Yeah, and I think that says it all.

As far as political discussions coming to an end. I hope not!! I know it will never be this intense, but political actions and decisions go on all the time and often shape the way our lives are lead. Let's hope that no matter what happens, we can discuss issues that can make our lives better or worse. (thankfully this time it doesn't look like it will get worse - may not get better, but it really could've been WORSE!!!)

Dude, that was harsh. I don't always agree with what he thinks is right and he does not always agree with what I think is right. In all fairness to him, he's stating an opinion. He hates Bush. He's upset Bush won. He didn't say fuck our Country and piss off republicans. ::shrugs:: His hero "lost" and my hero "won". He may be a pain in the ass sometimes (kinky) but the america's with out bobby lee would be boring.

This a music forum. I have not and will not take place in the political debates that go on in this forum - they are rediculous! Go to a political forum if you feel so strongly about your views and need to "vent" or "spin".

MODERATORS - I implore you to lock down this thread and the other political threads on here. The election is over. Please bring Rockpage back to the world of music so we "musicians/music fans" can get back to discussing what this place is all about - MUSIC.

Congratulations if your candidate won. If he didn't, I'm sorry, there will be another chance in 4 years. Thats what makes this country great.

Now that part I don't agree with at all. This is "general discussion"...anything is free to talk about here. If I want to talk about my president, my guitar, or my period, I will. Simple enough. Some people on here took things to extreme. Some have a bad attitude. Penalize the person if that is a necessary...but do not punish those of us who enjoy talking about other things than music. If that was the case I'd never post again. I'm not in a band... so I don't have have as many insights to these things as a band member would have.
