WASHINGTON – An Ohio congressman named Charlie Wilson wants people to know he's not Joe Wilson, the lawmaker who heckled President Barack Obama.
The Ohio Democrat says people have phoned confusing him with the South Carolina Republican who yelled "You lie" while the president was addressing Congress on Wednesday night.
The two Wilsons are not related. The one from Ohio says he remains friends with his colleague and feels bad for him.
Charlie Wilson says that he was surprised by the outburst but that the health care debate has stirred up emotions.
This just goes to show how far we have really gone. It breaks my heart to see this kind of thing happen because I hate the thought of those bastard Terrorists tearing us down so far. I hate to think that they accomplished so much more then the pure terror and waste of life that we saw on that tragic day in 2001. We lost so much more then the lives, the suffering however great by the families who lost loved ones that day is overshadowed by the suffering today. That our Great Country is run by fear and that we have gone so far as to have a person like this yell "liar" at the president of the US makes me sick.
I could never take my eyes off of Bush 43 when he was speaking. I felt compelled to watch him. I feel the same way about Obama, same way with Reagan. There is a reason that these people become the President of the United States. I love to watch them for the message and for the way that the message is presented.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of the event that not only killed 6000 Americans but also altered the course of American History by inundating us with fear. We have not been the same since.
I pray that we can overcome this as we have overcome so many obstacles and persevere to become the Nation that we should be, a nation of Hope, of understanding and a Nation that realizes that we are only as great as our weakest link.
God Bless America.

Why does every one get so angry when this Pres is disrespected? When it was happening to Bush, you didn't have any of the whining you have now ...
And tomorrow makes 8 years and Osama is still on the lose. Will we ever catch him? I only hope and pray as he is still some one I would gladly pay to see executed.
Speaking of which, is Obama doing anything for tomorrow ?
You read my post wrong, no one is whining. I am stating that ignorance has overcome respect as the sole motivational emotion in our society. You, fscarillo, are a great example of that. I stated above that I was "not able to take my eyes off" Bush 43. I have stated over and over that we supported GWB even when we walked bold faced into a war.
My concern is that if ignorance should become our defining quality as a country that I would have no place in it. Neither would many of the posters on this page. Being a proud member of the GOP does not give you a "license to ignore".
Back to the topic of the post and I stand by my critique that we have lost the respect that we have always had. I would never have yelled at GWB or Bush 41 for that matter. Out of respect.
This wilson character used this as a way to get the far right to send him money, if you don't believe that then too bad.
We have lost respect from our children for their parents and in my mind that is leading to the demise of our society. Without respect for your elders and your parents (family) you have no respect for anyone. Without that respect we have issues.
I am not saying not to question, that would be ludicrous (not the rap guy), we have the right to question, to be inquisitive, to challenge conventional thinking. We have to! That is what we are built on, without it we would be lost in ambivalence for eternity.
So, please don't call me a whiner. Read and try to understand the opinions.
Actually now that I have re read the original post I can only say "Huh?"
We can all keep moving forward and screw what the president is doing today, what are you all doing today to pay homage to the people who lost there lives that day in September?
Working in the community for the betterment of all? Donating some time in a retirement home to help those who are older and cannot help themselves? Maybe going to the food bank and working to feed the hungry...
There is always the Mission they are at it pretty much everyday and they always need help. If you want to go there and do volunteer work let me know and I will set you up with the address.
What are we all doing today to commemorate the loss of so much 8 years ago?
I will say a prayer for the families of those we have lost, for those who remain behind are the ones who truly suffer. I will donate all the work that I do today, I will not charge anyone.

Both sides complain when it happens to their own side...that's just the way it is. I felt it was wrong when they Boo'd Pres. Bush during his state of the union speech and I feel that its wrong to yell out "you lie" during Pres. Obama's address to Congress.
We don't teach respect anymore. Children don't know to call their friend's parents Mrs. (insert last name here) until the parent tells them otherwise. They aren't taught to shake hands when meeting someone. They hear their parents be disrespectful of others of authority including our President. (I know this isn't true of all but the majority now days.)
Its not a matter of if you believe in their policy or not. You can disagree and be respectful about it.
It even goes as far as respect for other people's property. Its amazing how people have no problem in stealing from our bar, or trashing it. Students on campus make shortcuts through the landscaping when the sidewalk is two feet away. I've even seen a group of young teens walk by another business that had a flower box out front and the rip out a plant and carry it around proudly.
All I want is a little respect in the world. Then, peace will come....lol
Joe Wilson knows what he did. He's falling all over himself apologizing, because the GOP establishment isn't backing him, and rightly so.
However, I'm glad he did it.
After turning town-halls into screaming matches, after outright lies and rumors of death panels, after intimidating people by wearing guns to political meetings, after all the shrill shrieking and misspelled political signs... Two words, "You lie," popped that zit.
Suddenly, the healthcare system does have problems. Suddenly, insurance companies should cover pre-existing conditions. Suddenly, people shouldn't lose everything when they get really sick.
Obama gave a great speech the other night, but that's his thing, he (like Reagan) gives a great speech. When Joe Wilson had his Tourette's outburst, Obama first glared daggers at him and raised his finger, then stopped, and said, "Not true." I personally would have compelled him to the floor (via parliamentary procedure), and picked his bones clean on national television, but that's just me. Anyway, I printed out a pic of exactly the moment when Obama's eyes were lit in anger and his finger pointed, and will keep it on my computer desk, as a reminder of the moment the right lost momentum, and of how cool heads prevail.--->JMS
Granted, it WAS low-rent of Wilson to do what he did during the Pres' speech. But I give him credit for saying it clearly and outright. At least he didn't dress it up. That said, it doesn't excuse him for the time and place he did it.
Keep in mind that Obama himself, and his constituents, have called we the people, the media, and those who have opposed his policies (particularly on health care) a liar as well. He just didn't have the cajones, or had too much class (however you wish to slant it), to say it that plainly. Both parties do it all the time. Yet we often give brownie points for the delivery method - more so than for the actual meaning........
EXAMPLE 1: A priest is golfing with one of his church attendees. Let's call him Bill. The priest is highly competitive. He wants to win badly. But he is losing. By the 15th hole it becomes apparent that the priest has no chance to win. Bill mentions his good fortune at the 15th hole and offers a "good game" handshake to the priest. The priest is pissed but is "above" making rude comments as to how he feels. So he says. "Hey Bill. Have your mom and dad stop by the church sometime, I will have them married.
EXAMPLE 2: You Bastard.
Same fucking thing. One is no better than the other. More creative perhaps, but no better.
Just shouldn't resort to childish heckling. The guy should wait until it's his turn to talk, then say whatever the fuck he wants. Just reminds me of the fucking flunkies in junior high who used to make fart noises during an assembly.

I read your post right and agree with you on it. I was just trying to add to it in the respect that you see more about how the current President is disrespected than Bush was. It is true that money and self indulgence is the way it is these days. I guess people get more brave as the years or days go on.
I have a feeling that the moral barometer of our society is sinking fast. Our kids are taught at the age of 5 that they have rights that teachers cannot infringe upon. Litigation has created a monster that mandates rewards for stupidity and the family and God have become less and less of a factor in our lives.
Call me a wacky Christian but the truth of the matter is that if you have no spiritual accountability the rules of engagement change.
These things create a situation where we have less and less respect for each other and more and more a feeling of entitlement.
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
I have had people close to me hurt me for reasons I cannot fathom and you just have to keep going, keep reaching out to people and try to believe in the human condition.
"That which you do for the least of mine you do for me."
A world without a "greater presence" is a world without consequences. When we have no consequences people behave badly.
I will never forget my daughter, at age 3, was home with good friends of mine. She got on the sofa and reached up to the knick knack shelf behind the sofas to grab one of the ceramic animals. MY friend saw her and said "Are you allowed to do that?"
Chelsea replied without hesitation "I am allowed if my Mama doesn't see me!"
Peace

WTF ? Were you living then ? If you simply said Bush was an embarassment, they would remove your songs from the radio. You were labled Anti-American ! Where the hell were you, asleep ?
Man, John Mayer can fucking play! I still remember when No Such Thing came out. It was a great pop rock song. However, Mayer's "more serious" work is awesome. I have a VHS recording of him on Austin City Limits doing Open Arms with Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton. He can play SRV as good as SRV! Nothing wrong with his more poppy fair, but I hope his career dives more into blues and guitar-based work so we can see him progress in a more artistic direction.

Not the case. You were obviously looking at what you thought was real. Big News and the liberals were constantly bashing him and his agenda. It was non stop.

You trying to troll in a good way?
Oh by the way, thank you. Now I am listening to John Mayer ...
