i dunno... i'm usually not asleep 2 hours after i burn one... in fact 2 hours after i burn one, i'm sparkin another up. i hate driving when i'm high. i go waaay too slow.lonewolf wrote:Disagree aboutsongsmith wrote:While many, if not most here, have driven after having a few, most weedsters I know do NOT like to drive while toasted. That said, I do not support toking and driving, it is most certainly dangerous, as is drinking and driving. Just don't do it, and you'll be okay.--->JMS
1) weedsters not driving--I know way too many who do.
2) 2 hours...{yawns} after 1-2 hours comes sleepytime pothead. Crash 1 and then crash 2.
What? Do you think I don't know something about this? I'm the guy with the 1973 jean jacket with the iron-on pot leaf. Don't try to bullshit me sonny!

That's not a surprise to me either. It wakes you back up for another 1-2 hours...like I said...been there, done that.slackin@dabass wrote:... in fact 2 hours after i burn one, i'm sparkin another up.
I've also already tried to rationalize everything that everybody on here tries to rationalize.

Sleepytime pothead only ever happened to me if it was late to begin with. plus, there's the old standup comedy..."People who drive on pot get in accidents, but they're only going 4 miles an hour. And it's usually because they forgot to open the garage door."

If you haven't been a burner in the last decade or so, even standard Mexican schwag is more potent than years ago. You don't want to drive, or do anything that requires any concentration. You want to watch a movie, or play guitar.
So I hear.

rationalize? i mean, it's safer than alcohol and classified with heroin. if the government isn't going to be rational, how can anyone else?

Here is most of government's rational view: pot only serves one useful purpose and that is intoxication.slackin@dabass wrote:lonewolf wrote:That's not a surprise to me either. The only upside viewpoint from some in government is that it is a pain reliever. I never noticed much pain relief from pot, and I'd be inclined to say that aspirin kicks its ass in this department. On the down side, pot causes a hell of a lot more harm from smoking it than the good it does for pain relief.
Safer than alcohol? Not when both are used as intended. The stoner always makes this rationalization based on the false assumption that all people who drink alcohol always drink until they are intoxicated. Most people do not. Of course, the stoner never sees the 90% of people who drink alcohol responsibly because they only hang out with people who are trying to get intoxicated.

Jeff, actually maryjane has some incredible effects at helping people who are on chemotherapy. It helps them get an appetite and to keep the food down. Many folks taking chemo get very wasted, as they cannot eat or keep anything down that they do manage to eat. That is a very dangerous situation, as they need all the energy to help their bodies recover from the chemo.lonewolf wrote:Here is most of government's rational view: pot only serves one useful purpose and that is intoxication.slackin@dabass wrote:lonewolf wrote: That's not a surprise to me either. There are actually meds (zofran being one) that help with this, but I have had experts over the years say that the meds are a very poor second choice to MJ in this area. I was told that if the FDA had the balls to approve MJ for this, almost every oncologist would be using it all the time for these patients.
It also can help with people with severe glaucoma. I knew of a kid who had this very bad glaucoma, and he was given steroids (not anabolic) which is the standard medical practice. Well because he was so young, the corticosteroids stunted his growth and today is just over 4 and 1/2 feet tall.
MJ would have worked and not left him a midget today.

Wouldn't THC under prescription serve the same purpose?undercoverjoe wrote:Jeff, actually maryjane has some incredible effects at helping people who are on chemotherapy. A good question I have asked often myself. THC is just one chemical molecule. When MJ undergoes the chemical reaction that results from lighting up, supposedly hundreds or more molecules with various THC properties are produces, greatly enhancing the result from just THC alone. That easily explains why Maui wowie is a different chemical experience from stinky dirt weed.lonewolf wrote:Wouldn't THC under prescription serve the same purpose?undercoverjoe wrote:Jeff, actually maryjane has some incredible effects at helping people who are on chemotherapy. Who knows if its even the THC that causes munchies? It might just be the burnt micro-ashes of hemp fibers. (well, probably notundercoverjoe wrote:A good question I have asked often myself. Jeff has a point, although marijuana is used for chronic pain, there are other meds for pain also. Pot is another alternative.
Works well with Aids and and like mentioned before, helps Aids people gain back their weight.
Helps control spasms with Multiple Sclerosis patients.
Does 2 things for Chemotheropy patiants.
1. Stops the nausea quickly where other meds may take days
to work.
2. After the stomach feels better, gives the patiant the
" munchies" so the eat.
Here's the latest. May arrest certain cancer tumors.
A study conducted by Spanish and Italian researchers and
published in the May issue of The Journal of Clinical
Investagation found that THC can kill glioma cells
through a process known as autophagy. Glioma is a
particularly deadly form of brain cancer.

well, i saw like 300 people on sunday night at pellie's trying to get drunk... and i didn't see 300 cabs after the show... but i did see an awful lot of people driving themselves home. i can't prove they were all driving drunk, but give me 300 stoners behind the wheel any day. seems they drive slower and are overly safe when they drive. and smoking weed is only one way to consume it. you can dissolve thc in fat and alcohol. you can make pot butter, by cooking butter and adding weed into it, then use the butter as you normally would and make cookies, brownies, cake... hell, you could make spaghetti, and put pot butter and parmesan cheese on it. there are pot clubs in cali that put thc into lollipops. there are other ways to get stoned than smoking is all i'm saying. then, there is marinol. pot in pill form. it's legal, right now, i believe.
not to mention that no one has ever died from smoking weed... a lab rat did once, i believe, but he smoked the equivelent of like 200 joints in an hour... thc just isn't toxic enough.
