Taxi Driver

Post by daveb »

I was sitting at work tonight watching one of my all time favorite movies, Taxi Driver. I have seen this movie dozens of times. I think It's one of the most amazing pieces of work I've ever seen. One of the scenes has a glaring mistake that I'm sure Robert D. would reshoot in a minute. What with him being a no mistakes kind of method actor. In the scene where Travis and Betsy go out for pie and coffee, he says in the voice over "I had black coffee and a piece of apple pie with yellow cheese ....." Yet, when you see him at the diner, he is stirring coffee that obviously has cream in it. I can't believe I've never noticed that before. Not a musical thread but at least I didn't mention Bush or Kerry............DAMN!

I own the DVD, i enjoy watching it from time to time, but I can't watch it several times and i really have to be in the right mood for it. it is an odd piece of art. i'll have to watch the pie scene again.

Yeah, movies like Taxi Driver that deal with alienation and the downward spiral are not for every weekend viewing. Also, I noticed the other night, that when you see Betsy for the first time walking into Palentine headquarters, Martin Scorsesi(sp) is sitting on the steps watching her walk in.
