Still a show on saturday
Yep! I talked to Willie (owner) today. We are going, playing and busting ass back to the Get Together for a late show at 1:30am after Mecca Bodega.

Also this:
I was at the church yesterday and this is my story. We were sitting down at the amphitheater on the stone steps. We had just got our mics set up. The next thing you know about eight drug task force members come running out from all angles yelling "Search warrant! Drug raid!" Some with ski masks and full combat gear. They all had their guns drawn. Some had M-16s. They rounded up everyone from the stage area and searched each and every person, even little kids. They had arrested about 12 people around the stage where I was. They had them all sitting on the church pews on the right of the soundboard. They turned the soundboard into a command center. They even searched the bands and their gear. They ripped through the venders stuff and took two of them away. They swept throughout the whole place. We were detained for about 3 hours 45 minutes until they finally left. At one point, I saw at least 50 cops. The best way that I can describe it was it was a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from. The best part about it is we had our mics running the whole time. I haven't listened to it yet but it ought to be interesting what they picked up. It was the most fucked up, unreal thing that I have ever experienced in my life.

As for the raid, I just hate when a shitload of police who could be taking care of real crimes are busy busting peaceful people who are engaged in victimless crimes.
I bet there's a lot of heroin floating around in Fayette County too and I'm willing to bet they didn't find ANY of it there.
see thats messed up right there. What kind of church allows....

My opinion is that it is not the role of a "church" to say whether you are allowed or not allowed to do anything. It is their role to guide individuals through a spiritual journey and help them be the best people they can be. Period. I have some problems with organized religion that go beyond those principles.

So you are saying the LSD, Shrooms, and weed bring out the best in people?ZappasXWife wrote:My opinion is that it is not the role of a "church" to say whether you are allowed or not allowed to do anything. I don't think the church was preaching things like 'do mushrooms or you go to hell'
Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.

Nice hijack, folks! Religion IS just pimped-out superstition.
Imagine setting up your gear to perform at a huge 500-800 person show and encountering what Dan and Mysterytrain were faced with. Sounds like it could be a great song, Dan!
I would love to hear what those microphones picked up. Lyrics to said song? Get me a bootleg please, Dan!
Rob, I'll bet that nearly every venue that your band performs in has corners dusted with coke and NOT the cola kind. I've seen it in most of the venues that I've performed in over the past 20 years...at least in the bars Not to mention the alcohol, which has it's own set of problems and causes more deaths per year than any of the drugs confiscated at the CULM. This situation is slightly different than the PLCB coming down hard on PA bars in that it was held on someone's private property, and their profit goes to charity.
The more people at a show, the better the chances that a certain element will rear it's ugly head. Whether that element is drugs, or alcohol doesn't matter as there are assholes EVERYWHERE we go because we all have them...assholes, that is.
This is a phenominal venue on 148 acres that has seen the likes of Rusted Root, Mike Doughty of Soul Coughing, Disco Biscuits, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, our area's Mysterytrain, and MANY more great groups. I just hope it doesn't hinder the progress in the growing of these events.
Hope everything goes better for you there this weekend, brother.

Why doesn't it matter? Because the government told you it didn't?... my thoughts exactly. it dosn't matter if it "should" be legal or if it's the governments business to tell you what you can ingest... that fact is that it's still illegal. use your head.

You just keep on buying that line of shit that the government continues to spoon feed you. We'll continue to think for ourselves and question laws and the authorities that hand them down.

I wish that the government would make spelling errors and improper punctuation (or lack thereof) illegal. Jeesh.

Sorry for the hijack, but the herd mentality eats at my soul. Besides, it's not the church's fault that a small percentage of attendees decided to bring the lion's share of Herb, Funguy, and Sid.

what line of bullshit is the government feeding me? if there is a law against smoking weed, then the feds or local law will arrest you for it. it's pretty cut and dry. i'm not saying i have a problem with smoking pot. i'm saying there is a problem with people using discretion. i'd also like a graded report on what's wrong with my previous post, since your obviously an English teacherXlifeNexus wrote:Why doesn't it matter? I agree with everything you said XlifeNexus, A little dose of rebellion and QUESTIONING is a healthy thing and an American tradition. There are too many sheep on this ranch. Thank you.
The only thing I don't agree with is the government telling us how to write, use punctuation, etc. I don't think it is their place.
Are YOU Captain Grammar ????
Those of you who think its OK what went down at that church...are you aware that there were officers pointing machine guns at little kids?

J/K
I have more of a problem with church than I do the drugs.
Actually I have no problem whatsoever with the drugs.
I look at church like I do homosexuality. It's not for me, but if you dig it, go for it.
Anyways, I can't believe we're on a ROCK AND ROLL MESSAGEBOARD and people are getting shit because their show got raided. And before all you fucks start rebutting with the "ITTT WUZ AT UH CHURCH OMG!!!" bullshit, check this out:

Harry Anslinger is from Altoona, maybe some of you are descendents of his?
You know what's funny?
I don't smoke pot. I really hate the buzz, and people who are always so stoned that they smoked their wits away annoy the shit out of me.
I do however believe if somebody wants to do something that is not harming anyone, and actually (probably) helping themselves physically/mentally/spiritually, it's none of anybody elses business.
Who the fuck am I?
