~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What say you bassist to another get-together? I'm proposing, for my own convenience a day between 13th and 18th. (That's when I'll be in PA again.) Kent has been meaning to make a post about another get together, but he's been either sick or lazy or both! So, here it is:
Anybody have some lesson ideas?
Anyone got any new product demos they can do?
Any suggestions where to have it? (St. Francis again?)
Put your votes in for a date.
Until the beginning of May, Wednesdays are the only week days I got could probably do it, but I'd definitely be into another one.
Moondoggy...you called me on it pal!
Hey....how would a Saturday afternoon during May work for a bassist get together?
I'd be willing to present a session on filling in for a second guitar in a one-guitar band.
Love the idea of a group bass seminar. 2 bass players here. we could make the workshop if it is anyday other than 14th and 18th. We are holding a Meister Eckhart Seminar on the 14th and performing at a Gospel Fest on the 18th. PM us for details if interested in either of these events.
And please post the chosen date/time/location when its finalized.
I thought I'd bump this up. As luck would have it, I'm still jobless. I say luck, because this allows me to spend my summer in PA (unless I land a career out of the blue).
So, here's some initial questions:
- What days work best for you- weekdays or weekends?
- Where do you want to have it? Boiler house at St. Francis again (if Kent can get it)? I can look into the PPG pavilion in Tipton? We could probably get away with doing it at someones house if they had a large garage or living room too.
- Do we want food and drinks this time?!? (very important!)
- Should we call Manring or Sheehan or Wooten to give a seminar?
Once we get a concrete date, we'll get an approx number of people that can definitely make it. We'll also see who's bringing what rig and instruments.
I like weekends, but any week day but wednesday. got practice that day sometimes...
I can also check with the boss about using the big upstairs room. probably a 99% chance of him being cool with that. and no chance of annoying anyone with volume.
Ok, so what say you bassists to the following dates for a GTG:
Sunday, July 26th
or
Sunday Aug 9th
???
I may have a room available in Greenwood (not Custom Guitar Works!) big enough for as many people and bass rigs as we can think of fitting in.
Post if you can make one of these dates or not. We'll go with a majority rules type thing. And again, the meeting place is not final yet.
Thanks
Dan
I officially have a meeting place for us in Greenwood (1 mile from 30 Something) on the Sunday the 9th in the afternoon/evening.
Post on here if you can definitely attend, cannot attend, or can maybe attend.
Also post if you have some basses, amps, cabs, or effects that you can demo or if you have any sort of tips to share so I can get an idea of a time frame. I can fill a half hour with some gear talk and technique tips that I've stolen from other bassists.
I can definitely bring some gear (basses, amps, cabs) and would be happy to let people check it all out.
Yeah, the job market sucks everywhere, especially in manufacturing (of course!). But, I guess central PA has had a head start on factories closing. Factories in Altoona, like SKF, started closing like a decade ago!
I'd love to try out one of your Aguilar 4x10's :) Do you think that can be arranged?
There will definitely be some Aguilar presence happening.
