Anybody Know?
Does anyone know anything about a place called the Rayne Drop Inn, what's it like to play there, decent crowds, were you treated well etc, we got a call from there and wanted to get some info before I booked anything. Thanks!

I know that back in the day there was a guy named Spike that ran the place. He was very cool and treated the bands cool. We used to get $600-$700.00 when we played. The crowds were good too. Early arriving and ready for a good time. I saw a band there last year and the crowd was great. Spike has moved on. But the place was still packed. Easy to load in and out of. Good electric.

Don't they have really good wings there? I think I remember going there a few times during college, but maybe not.

The Rayne Drop Inn is located on Rt. 119 between Indiana and Punxy. (Not too far from Marion Center High School if you're familiar with the area.)
Never been in the place, but it looks clean and well kept. There always seems to be cars in the parking lot anytime I go by. (Usually during the day on weekends when I'm traveling north to visit family.) I would imagine they draw a decent crowd of regulars.
The place has been for sale for a while. 1-2 years. The asking price is $995,000. Any takers????

Thanks for the replies guys. I did talk to him today and I did notice on the web site that it was for sale. He said he wants to sell the bar and move to OBX. So the future of the place is in the air, but I guess he can't move till he sells it so he is planning on keeping it running until he finds a buyer. If we play there, (he's thinking about it, thought we were a country band) I'll give everyone an update.

The place is for sale, but not really. He's asking well over what it's worth and if someone were dumb enough to pay it, then he would sale. Anyway, I live about 25 minutes from the place - maybe 35 minutes. Anyway, it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's the only place around so they do get a decent crowd. The room that you play is rather nice and big. The Rayne Drop is seperated into thwo different section. To you right is the dining area and on the left of the building is the bar. The crowd is hickish, countryish. The bar is a stones throw from Marion Center and past Marion Center is Amish country. Rayne Drop is surrounded by acres and acres of pine tree farms and farm land. They have recently started leaning more toward party bands, but bascially focused on country bands over the past few years. I haven't been there for over a year, but what I stated above is what I did know of the place. Good luck...

Yeah, the Rayne Drop is probably one of the nicest places around Indiana to play . We were there just a few weeks ago & did fairly well. Like most places if you're new it takes a little while until people catch on to you. Greg has been booking mostly rock bands with a few country bands here & there. And yes, the food is really good as well!
