$150,000,000

Post by stonekrow »

This is one for my fellow democrats to have fun with. Lets all guess where they REALLY raised the money for this shindig. My guess is Bush got a low interest loan from his Saudi buddies. I bet somewhere on the receipt you can find a $5,000 toilet seat and a $600 Hammer. Enjoy the following article.

NEW YORK - The Republican National Convention in New York had a total tab of about $150 million, including security.

Expenses included $5 million to rent Madison Square Garden, $11 million to renovate it and $1 million for 13,298 tickets to Broadway shows for delegates, according to a Federal Election Commission filing this week by the New York City Host Committee.

Another $28 million was spent on construction inside the arena, and some $7,000 went for coffee and doughnuts, the filing showed.

The federal government contributed $50 million for security. The city will end up spending about $7.9 million for security, fire protection, transportation and sanitation, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

The host committee raised a record $85.6 million from private donors to help pay for the event, according to documents filed with the FEC, and resulted in a $4 million surplus, which will go to the city.

The previous record for private-plus-government funding was held by the 2000 Democratic convention in Los Angeles, which cost $71.9 million.

Among the private donations was $7 million from Bloomberg himself — $5 million in cash and the rest in financial and legal services.

Organizers of the Democratic National Convention, held in Boston in July, reported that they had raised $54.4 million in private funds and had a $3 million surplus.

Questions for the political debators on Rockpage. With posts like this, is your intention:

A. to merely talk about politics, let your voice be heard

or

B. swing more votes for your candidate

If it is A fine but, if it's B I can say as an independent who hasn't decided who he's voting for, these do nothing but annoy the hell out of me...

I think I may just vote for the candidate who has been spammed less on forum boards.....

That's my .02 on political discussions on a music based board.....if anyone takes this the wrong way and get's pissed that's your right....

Where can I go online to verify the dollar amounts and to verify the legitimacy of what you are talking about?

Seriously!!!! I am not trying to be a dick about it, I would really like to see this!!! Although I will vote for Bush in this election (and, really, anyone but Kerry and sue happy pappy!! - I am not pleased with many things that the Right wing "conservatives" have done in the last few years and I would like to see some facts about this.)

But, I want to see facts and not propaganda or speculation. I am getting very tired of that kind of crap.

I got it from msn.com I wasn't really implying that It was wrong or trying to dig up some dirt, I actually thought it was funny and laughed my ass off when I read the other replies about "knowing how to throw down a party" because I was thinking the same. I don't know how legitimate it is, I haven't look anywhere else, I personally don't think it's an issue, just having a little fun. :)

I was just busting your balls a bit. I don't get on here often enough to have a say so. I just skip the political threads.
