Lets talk booking agents.

Who's using who? How much is a fair cut? Are they getting you decent gigs? Decent pay? Exclusive or non? Etc.

I've never been involved with a band that dealt with booking agents, so I can't tell you about my experience. I know that using agencies around here is controversial; some clubs won't book through an agent, while some book through them almost exlusively. Here's a few good threads from talkbass.com (a message board I frequent).

Also, try doing a net search. I'm sure there's a webzine article for gigging musicians that talks about the pros and cons of booking agents.

It depends on what you want to do , are ya looking to travel alot? If so then an agent is probably the only way to go, if you are just looking to have fun and kick around some local shows then I wouldn't bother.

Just check everything you can and look at all the options, make sure everyone in the band wants the same thing as well.
