I'm still trying to figure out what federal problem this bill addresses and of what value this new bureacracy would be.

Does anybody have any idea?

IMO, its is just another excuse to create another bureaucracy, harass the proletariat and spend more of your tax dollars.

Yes, spend tax dollars...at least I hope nobody's naive enough to think that the fees will cover the cost of yet another useless bureau.

I remember a time when when my wife was over in Iraq, and I was furious with the fucked up war there. I'll tell you people what some jackasses told me then, "you don't like it, fucking move to another country"

Yes, until a politician with a chip on their shoulder decides otherwise.

Politicians don't get chips on their shoulder, do they?

They are all reasonable and when given the power do do something that they shouldn't even be allowed to do in the 1st place, they would never think of doing it. Right?

What if Jack Murtha got one of his cronies a job as Special Agent Smith on the Honest Citizen Weapon Registration Division of the ATF?

What if Grice's Gun Shop pissed off Jack Murtha?

Ah, this fun ol' argument. A swimming pool, you swim in, a bike, you
travel,\ a knife, you cur your food, a gun...you shoot things.

Think the only more "amusing" try is the good ol' "Criminals will get
them anyway and don't care if they're illegal". That's the rationale
that says child molestation should be legal because child molesters are
going to do
it anyway.

Guns are a weapon. There should be laws governing because too many
people who LEGALLY have a right to own them...shouldn't.

The brother of someone I dated got a Glock (The trendy toy for yuppy
douches for a while) for Christmas from his wife. Was carrying it
around, showing everyone. He handed it to me (Finger on trigger, barrel
towards me...Till I toldhim not do that). I asked him it was loaded
(Checked anyway...Rule 1). Response? "How do you check?". Pinhead.

Disclaimer: Not saying everyone who owns a Glock is a yuppy douche...
just too many of them.

Guns are meant for food and for self defense. The right to bear arms is important. Guess why it is in the constitution?

To protect us from corrupt government. Period.

Whether that corrupt government is another trying to come and take away our freedoms OR if our OWN government is trying to take away our freedoms. This is the purpost of militia. Though militias tend to harbor nutcases, they actually do have a place in our society.

If you take away assault weapons, you take away the people's opportunity to defend themselves and thus keep in check corrupt government. Open a history book for cryin' out loud.

In our soft society, it is hard for us to imagine this, but you have to understand that government left unchecked over time WILL become corrupt and WILL take away freedoms until we are living in a land without freedom or with certain groups facing persecution.

So, I say, let people own guns. Let them have them, but make people register them. Sure guns can do terrible things, but I'm not going to let personal anecdotes take away a constitutional right. Some things kill people or are dangerous, but as a society thebenefits outweigh the risks. Take any form of mass transportation. Thousands die each year, but noone is about to stop that anytime soon.

The same goes for gun control.

Last time I checked, the military is made up of the same people you live next to.

Might be a bit hard to convince them that they should open fire on civilians.

Unless their mind control is perfected that much...

In that case they won't need guns and you won't feel the need to use yours :)

New Gun Legistlation

Post by joltinjeff »

Those of us who have had the experience of sitting behind a 60 cal maching gun, M16, LAW Rocket Launcher, etc. all know what kind of destruction these weapons can do.
It's just like bounty hunting, professional wrestling, magicians or whatever they are properly trained in doing their crafts, such as those who have or are serving in the military.
Ppl who think they can handle automatic weapons and get a hard-on from shooting them are dangerous!
Remember not too long ago, a guy from Blair County was killed by a .50 cal. machine gun!!!!
I believe in the Second Ammendment and I own guns, but for me to purchase an automatic weapon keep in my house and then have it stolen or mishandled then someone dies and I just cant live with that!
As long as ppl go on and sell this shit under the radar of the ATF and other organizations, ppl will be killed because some bozo wanted to play Rambo!!

New gun ledge...

Post by Rich »

My 2 cents... They are trying to dis-arm us. So "we the people" don't rise up agianst them. When they finally push us to far. OR.... When there are finally no guns in the hands of real people and only in the hands of criminals. The "law" can swoop in and save us all. So we all owe them, and they can some how charge us or tax us with a "bill" forthe "swoopin in and saving us"....

Just my opinion... :P

Is it not true that criminals get their guns illegally?
I doubt they go in to a legit gun store and buy a 9mm or any other weapon they use for committing crimes.
If the government takes away legit citizens rights to bear arms or makes them so difficult to buy that most just say to hell with it.
I doubt the criminals will change the way they obtain weapons.
If the criminals know that law abiding citizens aren't armed what do you think will happen then?

PS- I own an AK and a tactical shotgun.

New Gun Ledge...

Post by Rich »

Didn't another country "outlaw" guns to try and stop gun crimes. But all it did was give criminals the edge because they knew people did have anything to defend them selves with. So the criminals started using knives and stuff to commit crimes.... And then one old farmer didn't turn in a shot gun and he was getting robbed in the middle of the night be some "thug" who tried to stab him. The farmer shot him, not to kill mind you, to defend himself. The farmer got charged with some crazy chargers because he had the gun, plus because he shot the dude that was trying to rob and "stick" him....

That's some BS right there!!!

Ask the Jews in the 1930's about having their guns taken away. Hitler first had strict gun control laws passed, where all had to register their guns. Them the Nazis took them away from the Jews. Anyone remember what happened to them? They had no guns and could not fight back. I like History. We should learn from it.

+1 Undercover Joe and Rich

Take into consideration that EVERY army in the world is made up of citizens who have friends, neighbors, and family in their own country. Take the North Koreans for example. There are lots of good people over there who join the military and MUST do things that hurt their own countrymen. Chain of command is unquestionable in a military environment. It only takes the right set of circumstances.

I personally do not own a single firearm, but I believe in the constitution and in the wisdom of our forefathers.

I don't think the gun control folks have bad intentions, just like I don't think the patriot act had secret motivations behind it, but i will say this, both are unconstitutional and corrupt leaders WILL be able to take advantage of them in the future. Anytime you take away constitutional protections, it is dangerous for all of us.

a lot of people use this argument wrote:I believe in the constitution and in the wisdom of our forefathers.
Written over 200 years ago. Some of those guys had slaves  . Im pretty sure there were only slow loading single shot rifles and pistols during that time period.

I believe in the right to bare arms and the 2nd Amendment.

However, in the 21st century there should be limits. Nobody on this board needs an automatic weapon to defend themselves. Stop being paranoid....the government isnt trying to take away your hand guns and rifles. If the bogeyman government wants to take away your guns, they WILL and there is nothing any of us can do about it. They will pry them from your "cold dead hand". Weve got way bigger problems to worry about if it ever comes to our government trying to disarm us by force.

The Constitution is a great and powerful document. Im thankful our forefathers put it into play. The Constitution was written for and in a time that was much, much simpler. Its the solid foundation of which this country was built and thankfully the forefathers were smart enough to allow it to be amended.

Whole paragraphs of the Brady Gun bill were taken word for word from the Nazi gun control laws of the 1930's. They did not even try to change the words. When the Nazis had the addresses of all the Jews who had registered their guns, they knew exactly where to go and take them away. Then millions of Jews were murdered because they were left defenseless.

You don't want to hear about the Nazis and Hitler, but your friends the liberal gun grabbers use that model, and their proposed laws are exactly like the Nazi laws.

It is hard to face the reality, isn't it?

Oh, and you are probably one of the idiots who try to deny that the Nazis were actually socialists.

Um.. there are only so many ways you can control guns... So yeah, sometimes you might run into similar practices.

Please cite your sources. Cause I'm raising the BS flag.

At least two crazy things I learned in this thread:

1. The Brady gun bill was written in German.
2. You can wipe your ass with fabric softener.

... and then the wheel fell off.
