Just got back from Seattle, where Bob, Ron (former Grimm drummer) and I spent the week to witness Queensrcyhe performing...OPERATION MINDCRIME! For two nights, we witnessed the rebirth of one of the greatest rock concept albums ever in a totally new format! I cannot describe how cool it was to see this production in a 1000-seat theater in Queensryche's home town for the FIRST TWO SHOWS OF THE TOUR!
Thanks to the extremely cool folks at the Queensryche Fan Club, we scored post-show party passes on the second night....and we got to meet the band! Here's the swag:
The Money Shot: Bob and Geoff Tate!

Me with the reason I play a Spector Bass...Eddie Jackson!

Grimm alumnus Ron with Scott Rockenfield!

Bob with Pamela Moore (Sister Mary)! She is even nicer than she looks in this picture!

And finally.....Bob and I with Michael Wilton!

Some other intersting stuff:
1. We met folks from all over the country who flew (or in some cases rode motorcycles from Delaware) to be there.
2. Ron was mistaken for Scott Rockenfield by several autograph seeking fans.
3. Queensryche will release Operation Mindcrime II next year. Fans will get a mini-preview of the new album at the end of each show on this tour.
4. Pamela Moore (Sister Mary) will do the entire Mindcrime mini tour this year.
5. The new show contains some additional "revelations" about the fate of certain characters;).
6. The Queensryche Fan Club is AWESOME. I have never been part of a fan club before, but the backstage passes and killer tix were more than worth the $20 yearly membership.
7. Seattle is home of the coolest people and greatest bars in the country! Go there and drink some great local brews and suck up the ambience! The downtown is one of the most walkable big-city sections in the country!
8. Queensryche wants The Grimm to go on tour with them and perform "Resurruption"!...um, OK, that's a lie....but damn, would it be cool!
I'm putting together a complete trip diary for anyone who's interested....let me know and I'll send you a copy! Special thanks to Karen for lending us her digital camera (I wouldn't have trusted US with it!).
Rock on!
