The Grimm Hangs With QUEENSRYCHE!

Post by grimmbass »

Hey all!

Just got back from Seattle, where Bob, Ron (former Grimm drummer) and I spent the week to witness Queensrcyhe performing...OPERATION MINDCRIME! For two nights, we witnessed the rebirth of one of the greatest rock concept albums ever in a totally new format! I cannot describe how cool it was to see this production in a 1000-seat theater in Queensryche's home town for the FIRST TWO SHOWS OF THE TOUR!

Thanks to the extremely cool folks at the Queensryche Fan Club, we scored post-show party passes on the second night....and we got to meet the band! Here's the swag:

The Money Shot: Bob and Geoff Tate!

Me with the reason I play a Spector Bass...Eddie Jackson!

Grimm alumnus Ron with Scott Rockenfield!

Bob with Pamela Moore (Sister Mary)! She is even nicer than she looks in this picture!

And finally.....Bob and I with Michael Wilton!

Some other intersting stuff:
1. We met folks from all over the country who flew (or in some cases rode motorcycles from Delaware) to be there.
2. Ron was mistaken for Scott Rockenfield by several autograph seeking fans.
3. Queensryche will release Operation Mindcrime II next year. Fans will get a mini-preview of the new album at the end of each show on this tour.
4. Pamela Moore (Sister Mary) will do the entire Mindcrime mini tour this year.
5. The new show contains some additional "revelations" about the fate of certain characters;).
6. The Queensryche Fan Club is AWESOME. I have never been part of a fan club before, but the backstage passes and killer tix were more than worth the $20 yearly membership.
7. Seattle is home of the coolest people and greatest bars in the country! Go there and drink some great local brews and suck up the ambience! The downtown is one of the most walkable big-city sections in the country!
8. Queensryche wants The Grimm to go on tour with them and perform "Resurruption"!...um, OK, that's a lie....but damn, would it be cool!

I'm putting together a complete trip diary for anyone who's interested....let me know and I'll send you a copy! Special thanks to Karen for lending us her digital camera (I wouldn't have trusted US with it!).

Rock on!

Two words for The Grimm guys....Lucky Bastards. Tate was one of the reasons I began singing in the first place. I'm gonna have to sign up for the fan club. Always wanted to, since it seems to be one of the better ones out there on the pro level. Hope they come through Pa with the Mindcrime tour. I'll go anywhere in the state (or any state near us) to see it.

Very cool! Congrats on meeting the 'Ryche! They've always been cool the four times I met them (heh! heh!).

Seriously, I'd be into seeing that trip diary. And I'll be one of the first in line to pick up Mindcrime II when it comes out next year!

I let my membership in the 'Ryche Fan Club run out 3-4 years ago. It used to run $30 a year, but for $20, I'll give some serious thought to rejoining.

Did you find out whether they got to listen to the Resurruption CD's I gave them last year in Pittsburgh?

Oh, man - lucky bastards doesn't even cover it! Wow. Queensryche is one of my all-time faves. I used to play drums along with that record from end to end, along with Empire. Rockenfield is an incredible drummer. And, then, of course, is Mr. Tate, only one of the 3 greatest vocalists hard rock has ever had. I still aspire to sing like him - who doesn't?! :D

Congrats on the SWEET trip. Image

A Dream

Post by Imgrimm01 »

The dream of a lifetime my friends, And ya know what really made it cool ... NO ATTITUDE !! Geoff was as friendly as someone I might meet on the street here in Altoona. I would do this again anytime!
I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood
