Anyone else running this?
So far its been pretty great. I had to do some work to get my winmodem to connect, but if you dont have dial up, then its pretty much install-and-go.
For new users, you can even try it before you install it. It will boot from the cd. Just slap it in, boot it up, and see how it works for ya.
Check it out here http://www.ubuntu.com/
snag 9.04, its completely free.
If you have a dell, search for the dell ubuntu iso. Its preloaded with all the dell software I believe.
I had to do some bitchwork to get my dial up to work tho. Had to get two different driver sources, one from dell and one from linmodems, combine them, edit two files, compile/install them, then run hsfconfig, then 'sudo route add default ppp'.
But after i figured it out, its all smooth sailin.
ubuntu
its pretty great. I wanted to install it when I built my new computer, but I have a 250 Gig data partition I was going to share, but fat32 won't recognize anything that big. Whenever linux gets better at reading NTFS I'll probably install it. I think I still have the unused 10 gig linux formatted partition on here.
Stand back, I like to rock out.
