I just got my wisdom teeth out last Thursday and I gotta say, it still hurts like hell. Everyone was saying that I would be good in like 3 days and I was thinking that I would be. As of today (almost a week later), the entire right side of my face where my goatee is is still completely numb. It SUCKS! Anyone else have a similar experience with getting their wisdom teeth removed?
Based on my experience, I would say not to get them out unless your dentist says it's an absolute necessity. If I saw my oral surgeon right now, I'd probably tackle him.
Been there.
You probably have dry sockets.
Go back to the Dr and they can gauze pad dipped with novacaine into the holes where your teeth used to be.
It gets rid of the pain instantly!
I've got a lot of friends that've had their wisdom teeth removed. Some have had good results, and others,... Not so good. My best suggestions include Oragel, Aleve, and clove oil (dunno if just a clove would work...). That, and/or ice or ice cream
JD, that sucks.... Are you any wiser??? Well, I guess if they "removed" your wisdom teeth. That could possibly make you goofier... ??? Maybe??? Hmmmmm??? What say ye??
When I got my wisdom teeth out I got dry socket. It hurt like crazy; they had to put gauze in the hole and gave me codeine to kill the pain. That worked awesomely ...
Thanks for the great advice, everyone. I'm going to call up my doctor and see if I might have a dry socket.
Rich,
I'm definitely not feeling very wise. Been whacked out on vocodin for seven days now. Especially feeling dumb because I'm supposed to have practice today and I just tried to sing...not good.
I'll take a bad/painful practice and vicodin over a "dry socket" any day... Anyone every google a dry socket? What the hell... I'd say lick it first, then see what happens!!!
I had mine removed like 3 years ago. Two of them were completely impacted, which sucked.
I think I was better in about 2 days... as far as pain goes.
I don't know if you smoke or not but you can definitely get dry sockets if you do.
Not to be "Debbie Downer" but there is always a possibility of temporary/permanent nerve damage with oral surgery. I'm not saying that's what happened and I hope not...
Have you been using your irrigation thingie to clean the holes out?
Daughter had hers taken out late last year and was down for about ttwo weeks, however she did have all four taken out at once. She looked like a chittermunk for about a week.
Again, the pain killers and other numbing agents should get u thru all of this.
I feel your pain!!!
