They are originally from York, but as of November, they were co-habitating between York and LA. They've been playing shows all over (and around here) for years and got signed by Atlantic records. I first saw them about 10 years ago when RJ was 13 or something crazy like that. They were playing at a some kind of festival in Tipton...and they were pretty amazing then.
But damn, look at em now!

They were already signed by Atlantic records too! That was just unbelievably silly of people not to take advantage of seeing such a great band in a venue like that. That show rocked, and those of us who did go to the show got to hang out with them and chat one on one afterwards... It was really cool.generationgap wrote:...and to think people could of seen them play live at 30 something at J.P.s benefit less than a year ago ...
They might do a show back in this area someday, but I'm pretty sure it will never be like that again.

I think it's awesome that they are local and got signed. I don't really like any of their songs that I have heard, but I see a lot of potential in them. It's great to know that bands CAN get signed around here.

While Halestorm is from near York (originally Bethel, near Lebanon), they cut their teeth and did a lot of their growing up right in our backyard. Here's a trip down Halestorm memory lane, from the JP archives:

The first time I met Lzzy and Arejay, during the 1999 Millennium Music Conference in February '99. Pictured counterclockwise from lower left: Lzzy (then age 15), Arejay (age 12), yours truly, David and Andrea Greene, and Shel Hoachlander (the Pennsylvania Musician contingent).

Halestorm's first Altoona performance, at Crazy Fest at the A&J IAIA Post, April 25, 1999. At this point, Lzzy and Arejay's dad, Roger, played bass.

Just days later, on May 5, 1999, Halestorm performed during the public service event "A Family Affair" at Altoona's Station Mall. Here Arejay played his spinning drum kit (with balloon hat courtesy of Dennie Huber)!

Arejay and the spinning drum kit in action during Firestorm 2000 at Lakemont Park on July 4, 2000.

Lzzy during Q-Fest at the PPG Pavilion in Tipton, Sept. 23, 2000.

Arejay during a show at the Altoona G-Man, June 20, 2002.

Halestorm performs at the Lakemont Park Wing-Off, July 18, 2002.

Lzzy onstage at Peter C's, July 27, 2002.

From that same show, a picture Big John will like, Lzzy and Jodie K.

Lzzy singing onstage with Roadkill during Q-Fest, Sept. 13, 2003 at the Cresson Sportsmen's Club.

I noticed this as well. FYE in the Logan Valley Mall stocks it, but they only had a copy or two when I last checked. Best Buy carries it, but the Altoona store didn't have it when I checked there. Hot Topic doesn't have an arrangement to carry the disc, so they don't have it.i cant seem to find the halestorm cd anywhere around here...where in altoona area can I buy it from that actually has it in stock
