Ok man, I just can't take your post serious, cuz your backhandedly dissing the dude you're supposed to be sticking up for, and the grammar/spelling looks like you're trying too hard. I just can't tell if you're really smart or really not.

That dude's just a troll. He's usually too busy hating on Bob Lee to post anything else. I was referring to the Original bands saying fuck off thing I guess. IDK? Do your thing man. Fuck the haters.

I wanna see someone come up to me and say I suck because I dress like I'm stuck in the 80's. Get in the ring motherfucker and I'll kick your bitchy little ass! Sorry, had a G n' R flashback.

I guess it still comes down to the pissing contest...Covers Vs. Originals

Regardless, the guy's playing covers for the most part go out and play and have fun, I have had some GOD DAMNED AWESOME FUN at HF1 shows and Tribute Band shows. Also, I have had a good time at shows where the band played 99% original music. Sometimes I think it sucked but hey, at least they have the balls to play the shit, and people listen and some people even like it. I, myself would jump at the chance to be in a tribute band. It all stearted back in the day when I worked with Cold Gin. Those guys were 100% dedicated to putting on the KISS experience, and I was happy to be apart of that...even though I only ran lights and was a ROADIE!!! But you know what? The experience I picked up working with those guys helped me in my own endeavors when I did break out of my shell and was singing in my own band...doing covers. I saw what original bands were doing at the time, and it wasn't shit, my own opinion of course. Sure, I've had guys quit bands because we weren't going to work on originals. Why? 75% of us thought that they sucked...so we stuck with what worked...COVERS. Now if this makes me a troll or a douche....call me Summers Eve under a bridge.

Sorry for the rant........

What about the bands that do both covers and originals? We do. Is that an oxymoron? Maybe I'm a moron? Maybe we are a traitor to cover bands by doing originals....or is it the other way around?

This whole thread is one big mindfuck! People dissing bands solely on dressing up. Faggot trolls that can't spell at a 3rd grade level....wow.

That's exactly what we plan to do dude. If we would have listened to half the people that told us we blew or that we looked like fags, we wouldn't have lasted more than a couple years. I just don't want this turning into a huge flame war. We need to all realize, like in nature, we all have a place and purpose in what we do. Serve it and stop bitching and whining. I really wish a couple of my other bandmates on here to give their sides of this. Be nice to hear what they have to say.

on this covers vs. originals thing. You should have been at the Reed Boys benefit. There were cover bands and Original bands. Nobody died, and they all supported each other.

Scene

Post by tornandfrayed »

I have scene em come and scene em go. Hair Force 1 brings the shit. Too bad some people can only see what they are told exists. Some people are Republicans and some people are "libertarians" too bad it matters to anyone.

Hey some bands play covers and some bands don't. Some people don't like Pearl Jam cause they are into something else, some people realize what Pearl Jam really is and let's leave it at that.

I believe in a woman's right to chose and a God that has better things to do then tell you what the Fuck I should be doing.

I believe, as stated above that we all have a place. Some of us want to fight because we have small penis's. Some of us hate men because we are closet lesbians. Hell some of us hate the fact that music brings us all together so they seem to hate everything.

I could sit here and tell you that cover bands suck and the 80's was no fun at all but then I would be lying to you like your moma did and that would not be fair because my God and my America do still love you even if I think you are a dumb redneck piece of shit like me.

So I think that about covers it. Except metal bands are closet homophobes and the truth is that you are all gonna do what you want regardless of what some ass on Rockpage says so Yuk it! I will support you!

Did I miss anything?

Vic, correct me if I am wrong... Dirty..... Anyone?

Ok wow.Haven't been keepin track of RP for a day or two.Ya know real life gets in the way from time to time. But WTF?
Let me reiterate that i wasn't cuttin the brakelines on HF1's van.I wish the chaps no harm and i said NOTHING about the talent of the band.Just the look. It's silly to me.Hell half my present band was in SauceMonster.Hit those dudes up and see how much i bust their balls for their goofy masks and stupid goggles.I would tell anybody face to face anything i say on here if i believe in it,that's how i'm built.

Now there's a fellow trying to slam me like i've only played 5gigs in my life?Fuck brother if you're gonna try to break me you better do some pull ups.

I've been writing and recording music and yes PLAYING GIGS since i was 16.

1986-1989 Founding member of Progthrash trio Aushkreig.

Recorded 2 albums with said band that included Scott Hicks and drummer Steve Burns.
1988's--This is Nonsense.
1989's--Mother N

1990-1996 The Ninth Academy- Avant/rock/prog thing.

1994 Recorded Self tiltled record at Hollen Sound studios AND PLAYED GIGS

1996-Recorded solo record of guitarsynth generated Chamberstyle Avant-garde pieces with live guitar on top entitled IDS.Cool stuff if i do say my-self.Am i allowed to say that?

2003-2005 The Mighty Grimm.A band that never reached what we could have.I take complete blame for letting other things in my life derail it.I've never really said my peace to the other 3 dudes who worked their asses off just to have me pull the plug.Selfish on my part no other way to say it.I have the tapes and it was heading in the right direction.Dom,Kent,Bob.Sorry

2006-Present NailDriver.
Recorded selftitled record in Aug 2008 and ONLY PLAYED 4 GIGS.Happy?

I also worked for Ark Recording studios from 1994-1996.

And about the "name droppin"of jazz cats.I assure you it's more than name dropping.I was/still am seriously steeped into improvising jazz fusion.Lived and breathed for years.Nothing still beats Coltrane. So if any of you "cats" wanna get together and blow through some changes let me know.I'll bring the charts and we'll separate the cats from the chumps anyday.

Finally Paul.
Dude i always kinda knew you were that type of guy that would take a 3yrold phone conversation between total strangers and try to smear me with it.It's cool i'm a big boy with kids, cars, and a mortage payment. The way you picture who i am and what i'm about never causes me to lose sleep. You see i don't live in a teeball league dream world were everybody is good enough and everything is perfect. So i calls them as i sees them. Some people like it,some don't.Rockin Bobby called my first post a "Personal attack"A personal attack?Put the ball on the tee so little bobby can hit, so his feelings don't get hurt. Now if i charge the stage at your next gig with a busted beer bottle, that's a personal attack.Words are words. You're a smart dude you know that. What i took from our phone chat was that you were a right on cat that had to be talented and ofcourse very smart. It may come as a suprise to you but that hasn't changed.I mean if i knew at the time you thought i was the biggest dickhead you ever talked to i guess i would have bragged myself a little more.I give lessons.

Ive met Scott and I think he is an awesome guy. He is DAMN GOOD guitar player. I wish I could take lessons from him!
Ive also met Paul and think he is an awesome guy and is a DAMN GOOD bass player.
I like people on both sides of this argument. Im not gonna dislike someone because we feel different on a subject or 10. Ive learned alot in the recent months about things like that.
It does seem that this thread has opened up things that arent even part of the thread title. Is that good? Who knows....I think it can be though.

Not out to smear you...was just citing an example of how coming off with 'tude can affect how people react to you. But like I said earlier, you're probably aware of that and don't care. That's cool with me. I have my own philosophy and way of dealing with people. I didn't walk away from the conversation thinking, "Whatta douche," or "I'd never work with that cat." However, those are just things that my bandmates don't sit around and talk about. I know that the world isn't cuddly and people don't always skip through the meadow holding hands. I just think that meeting a cat and having that person throw out a lot of negativity about the people he's worked with isn't always the best thing to do. But we didn't get that project off the ground and I don't have the time to dedicate to a side project like I did back then, anyways; therefore, it's a moot point.

There are a bunch of cats on Rockpage who have never interacted with me in a real world situation, and I'm sure they have their opinions of who I am, for better or for worse. Like I said, HF1's wig and costume thing isn't my bag either, but I still dig what those guys do, musically-speaking, and wouldn't slam them for what works for them. I was actually really glad when Mudvayne ditched the makeup and outfits, because I thought their exceptional music could then be the focus. Maybe they needed the get-ups to get noticed? I don't know. But now I'm off on a tangent. :P

i dig hair force and what they do. they got talent. they fill whatever venue they play in. would i do it? no. never. and i think the world is a much better place when i don't have to wear spandex. and i'm pretty sure the world thanks me. maybe not out loud... but it's definitely there.

tragic mind: spell check is your friend. go back to 3rd grade. learn how to construct a sentence. honestly. seriously. i couldn't read your posts. not because i have something against you, but because i physically couldn't understand what you were trying to say.

bassist_25: way to bust out the seal. how bout if i bust on you? uhhh... hold on now... it's coming to me... your strap is shiny? it's the best i could do.

robthedrummer: don't tell people we do originals, too! shit, if they know that, it will cause absolute pandemonium. as far as the world is concerned, cover bands can't write music. they are only learners, not creators. don't forget it again.

thank you all for your time.

Actually, that strap was a gift from a really cool friend of mine. It is a little more bling than what I'm use to, but I really appreciate that she hooked me up with it; so I rock it. 8)

I should just get a strap with my name on it. That's always cool. lol

Oh yeah, and this thread is epic.

I feel honored to have a new (and very clever, I might add) nickname - Rockin Bobby. Must have taken all day to come up with that one. I remember in grade school when we used to enter into debate with snappy lines like that - it almost always assured you victory in any disagreement. Look, I don't really care what people think of me personally. I treat people right and if someone has a problem with me or something I say, it's his problem. If you feel the need to resort to violence to settle a dispute then that's your call, too. I'm a grown up and don't roll like that - I have a mind that I use to resolve conflict, like grown ups do. Again, strong arm tactics don't sway me. There are consequences for that type of behavior. Having said that, Sanchez said it best in another thread. If you're gonna decide to take shots at people in a local forum like this, especially multiple, unsolicited and out of left field shots (remember, this thread was created by a fan seeking info about a band he likes. It was never a thread about what you thought about HF1's wardrobe - hijack) expect their friends to stick up for them. It's not kissing ass, it's speaking up for a friend. There were two posts made in this thread that seemed to be poking fun of friends of mine. I merely pointed out that it seemed excessive and that their formula works for what they're doing. Why is it ok for one person to hijack a thread to express a viewpoint, but the counterpoint that I offered was not? Whatever, don't care. Still don't know this angry person and will live a happy life, raising my kids and paying my mortgage, not knowing him. I do know Floyd and Randy tho and am surprised that either of these stand up guys would spend time with someone with such an inflated ego. Hey, I like myself, too, but I don't walk around town wearing sandwich boards with my resume on them. And I've met a lot of incredible musicians in my day whom I'd never be in a band with, simply because of their shitty attitude. But to each his own. Good luck. r:>)
That's what she said.

That's all well and good Rob and I agree with you. But remember friend, that is a two way street and it often doesn't appear to work that way on Rockpage. This is not a poke at you, but simply calling it honestly and how I've seen it over the years. You have a lot of respect from your peers on here...I would imagine deservedly so.

Aside from all that, this thread is disappointing. Yeah it "delivered". What exactly did it deliver? Sure as hell wasn't unity in the "scene".

More power to HF1 and all the other bands who do it "their way". We cant all possibly wear the same monkey suit and not everyone wants to be a fan of the same kind of monkey. Respect that. Thats the bottom line of all this after all.
