TOTALLY DISSED AT 30 SOMETHING part 2

I will never set foot in 30 again. Last year, I was there every wed. for 3-4 months to play poker. It was cool, I got to see my friend Rob (BDR) on occasion and it was nice to see a friendly face from the past. The tournament director/bar tender, though, always had a rude and nasty attitude toward me (and most of the other poker players), but I'm not too sensative and played along for a while. Eventually, enough was enough and I stopped playing there(about 3-4 months) . I spoke to many people I was in contact with ( even people who claimed to be VERY good friends with Claudio) and was agreed with that she ( the tournament director/bar tender) had no business doing the job that she was doing.

So I decided to give this season another try. Has anything changed? Nope. She's just as rude as ever (and I always tip appropriately)I asked her (jokingly of course) what kind of "dirt" she had on her boss that he would sstill have her work for him. You can imagine the response. I'm not in any way trying to deter anyone from going there, but I wonder how many people STOPPED going there because of a similar situation.

Not looking for any sympathy, I was just venting. I'm not getting into specific details, she's just extremely rude and acts like it's a huge chore to get you a drink, and I tip after every drink. Claudio lost a paying customer, I'm just wondering how many more he lost or will lose due to poor staff that's been there way too long.

Shredder, I'm wondering why you tip a rude waitress "well". I waitressed for many years, and tipping well for bad service makes about as much sense as the jerks that didn't tip for great service. I saw her being to rude to a patron last night and he simply said "there goes your tip" and she proceeded to yell loud enough for the whole bar to hear I DON'T WANT YOUR FUCKING MONEY. I witness her antics every week and I'm tired of it and I won't go back. Just saying.

John, I kind of know this bartender personally and can tell you that if she gives you shit, it's because she likes you. It's her way of being playful and sarcastic and nothing's meant by it. I also know that a majority of the Wednesday night patrons are cheap asses when it comes to tipping and are demanding just the same. Bartending, especially during week nights, is a thankless job for the most part. People order a water or soda and expect it right away, then leave nothing when they walk away from the bar. I've seen it on Wednesdays a million times with my own eyes. I'm not saying that's you, but that's Wednesday night poker for her. Plus, a lot of extra shit is dumped on her because of that tournament - stuff she has to do outside of work - and there's no extra pay for it. I'm sure if you mentioned it to her that it bothers you, she'd dig what you're saying cuz she's told me flat out different times that she thinks you're a good guy. I know a lot of people who go there specifically for her service. She ribs people, but follows it up with a grin. It's part of her delivery. But again, if you said something to her, I'm sure she'd hear what you're saying ... or she might punch you in the face, who knows? lol. r:>)

Bar tenders are bar tenders... they have their "own lil way" of keeping them selves from getting bored.. I wouldnt stop going to a place I like to be at with friends n such just because of 1 bar tender.... bad service = no tip


Just get ya drink, deal with it, get on with life as it goes..


Ive been going to 30 something for quite a while.. Its where I met a few of the bands that we play on CrossFire-Radio... I have no problems with Claudio at all..

Had a birthday bash held there... He already had a band booked that night... and he allowed me to grab 2 more for the party... He set the pay amount... He asked me what to pay the bands, I told him to deal with it, as thats not one of my "fun" areas...

So he did.. and I contacted the bands the next day... They got paid the amount that was talked about, and everyone was happy, no one got stiffed Everyone had Fun..


All this ranting and raving about 1 bar in Altoona is a little over doing it... You can't possibly say that 30 something is the only bar you ever got stiffed in or wont go back to or complain about the bar tender or complain about the owner..

I dunno... One of those "to each their own" sort of ordeals there???

If a band has someone collecting at the door, it's because that money is going to the band. no way to cheat a club owner there. Now booking a show and bailing...sometimes bands do it.

I think people have just been crying a lot lately and misery loves company.
I personally love 30 somethings. Don't have to blow anybody to get shows there and the sound/stage is awesome. I've been dealing with Claudio for years and never got the "slow night" speech. Well, actually i did, but I brought it up, because I feel a band is responsible for bringing people in. Claud still honored our agreement.

I really dont respond to flaming posts but your venting and this is turning into an asshole thread b/c anymore rockpage thrives on degradation. I see where your comming from a bar tender should be very polite depending on the situation. Im sure being a bar tender can be very stressfull dealing with all the drunks, perverts or w/e piece of work walks threw the door. But for somebody to yell " I DONT WANT YOUR FUCKING MONEY" Why would you wanna go there. Yep, we're the assholes. Just him saying "you can imagine the response", shows that knows he was being a dick. If someone said that to me at work, I'd prolly make a thread about IT on rockpage. I didn't bend anybody over. I just wanted some details, because I'm not gonna let him cry on my fucking shoulder if he was just being a sensitive little pussy, and I needed a little more info to make that decision. If the fucking cunt would have said something to me along the lines of "I don't need your fucking money" I think I'd have confronted her. Not make some post on a forum venting (crying about it).

First of all, I am the one that shredder138 is bitching about. And I am going to give you the whole story. First of all, everyone that knows me, knows that I am the type of person to be rude and mean, but joking around. And if I see that you can not handle the way that I am, I tend to tone it down a little. Let me explain what happened last night, since I was the sober one, of course. He walked in and does not ask me to get him a beer, he just says "you know what I want." So that is fine. Through out the evening another guy playing poker, whom I know and joke around with, is giving me a hard time and says "there goes your tip." In which I replied, " I don't need your money" I never once said whatever bullshit that shredder138 said I did. But that is not the point. After all of that was done, shredder was at the bar telling me to get him a drink and being rude to me. Well, as everyone knows, I have the right to refuse any drinks to anyone that appears to be intoxicated. Well, he was being rude.

While I was waiting on other people that were up at the bar first, he then says to me, "what kind of dirt do you have on your boss?" I asked why, cause I had no clue as to what he was talking about. He just smiled and kinda laughed and said "nothing, never mind" Ok then, I never said anything else to him. He got impatient and left because I would not jump when he wanted ANOTHER beer. So if he wants to try to blame the fact that he is an asshole, then that is cool. I am pleased to know that you are going to let a 5 ft nothing little girl impact the fact that you won't ever come into the bar. You never once tipped me "appropriately" either. But it is ok. My life is complete knowing that you are scared of someone giving you the same type of attitude that you give to others.

As far as the other poker players that he says do not like me, well I think he is sadly mistaken. Because I managed to make more money in tips last night than I do on a night that there are bands playing. So you do the math. You will not be the first that has bitched about me and you sure as hell wont be the last. If you can dish it out, then you sure as hell better be able to take it. I have customers that come in there just because of me. I am not rude and mean....I do not say things to hurt people. Just because you are pissed that I would not serve you when you wanted to be served, is not my problem. I even asked you to sit there and not say a smartass comment for two minutes and you could not even do that. So why would I continue to serve you so that you could treat me like shit? But again, you can blame me all you want. I am fine with that.
