With all the damn comments that get tossed out while you're hiding behind your little 17 inch crt monitor from the early 90s, really makes me wonder if any of these people would have the balls to say what they say in 'REAL LIFE' in front of the persons they're talking about. It's such a shame that people have to come on here and rant and rave about things you should just not put out there. For fucks sake, be a man, suck it up. Or at least have the balls to say it to their face.
I know for a fact that anything whitedevilone says here, he would have no problem saying to ones face. He's probably one of the best guitarplayers on this forum, this region, hell this state or country. Very talented and worked his ass off to get there.

Scott, you kick ass and it's got to feel good knowing that compared to you, most "musicians" around here are talentless hacks.

No insult directed at anyone here, but you're probably not half the musician that whitedevil is.

PEACE OUT

My word

Post by Imgrimm01 »

Hello ... I feel compelled to speak in this thread , I don't know why but I do. I have played in an ALL original band for many years and we have released 2 full length albums as well as 2 or so EP's, we have also played countless shows in many areas in some VERY respected circles with some VERY well respected acts ( reference J.P. ) if you need to check these facts, I now play in a predominately cover band and we play a ton of shows in this and surrounding areas and here is how it breaks down for me ( having done both ) with Grimm I always felt proud and like there was a sense of sccomplishment at the end of the gig and when people would tell us how great we sounded I knew that they meant " US" and "OUR" music, in Lies I walk away from the shows with more $$ in my pocket for sure but when people tell me that we were great ( and they do ) I know that means we are great at playing someone else's music in a way that makes the typical bar fan feel comfortable and at home. Which one is better ? Well I guess that is up to the individual ( playing the tunes or going out to see it being played ) If I am going out to see a band I would MUCH rather see an original act , that's my opinion!! Oh yeah this is a HF1 thread so I should say something about that, I DON'T GET IT !! I play in my current band with DAX (one of their guitar players I don't know his silly nick name ) and in addition to being one of my best friends I respect him as a guitar player he is one of the best in the area, BUT I DON'T GET IT !! I say these things because I am not one of these guys so many of you refer to hiding behind a monitor I am Bob Lee, I have never hid my feelings and opinions , when Dax told me about this reunion gig I told him what I thought I DON'T GET IT !!! That being said Luck to you all, I hope you get from this what you are after because at the end of the day that's why we all play music to fulfill ourselves in one way or another. OK... I am done.
I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

Fuck anyone who disses music simply because they don't care for the genre. I respect all music, and there is something you can take from all genres. There is a place for all styles, and if you don't like it...Fuck You! (biker joe warren)

Lol this is some hilarious shit. Basically, you have the cover bands saying welcome back and the original bands saying fuck off. That's about what I expected. So pretty much this thread has indirectly turned into a covers vs. originals thread. I think I may have said this a long while back, but as much as I don't hate any original band here, this market thrives on cover bands. It's a fact. If you want to make cash, that's the way to go. However, if you would rather do originals, more power to you.

Bottom line here is that what we do isn't for everyone. That's ok. Nowhere in this thread was I trying to convert the haters on the board into hf1 lovers. People like what they like. But for those of you getting on other people's cases about liking us, grow up. Nobody's going to break your door down and shoot you in cold blood for not converting people to your views. Let them be fans of what they like.

To address Bob, no disrespect man because I do respect what you've done with The Grimm, but you don't have to "get it." The fans that fill the seats do and that's ultimately what matters. By the way, Dax's name is Michael J. Cox.

Wow I'm really confused. I totally dig Hair Force, costumes and all. It's a total atmosphere of the 80's hair band scene. Pretty sure that's what they were after & I think they nailed it. Great musicians & cool dudes too. On the other hand The Embalmed (all original metal) just flat out slam and also are one of my local favorites. So how can I dig an 80's hair tribute band AND an all original metal band? According to the Academy for Standards Subjective to the Hiearchy Of Lesser Educated Schmucks this can't be. Think Bonsell said it best-there's a place for all styles & genres.

Yeah, Fuck em! But did anyone in this thread actually diss the music, or does dissing the get-up constitute dissing the genre. Ahh, Fuck em anyway!

Novelty act. But they seem to be cool with that.

Had to laugh at the Jesus Christ pose comment, because I did see that dude sitting in (uninvited apparently) with another band, and he was acting all Scott Stapp. Funny shit.

I dont think music performance should be 'theater' , but i know what you mean. Music performance and theater are two totally different things to me. One is just playing a part...and the other is actually performing.

I dont think HF1 is a novelty act at all. "Tribute band" was said, and thats 100% correct. Almost every tribute band dresses the part.
Shit, the Pink Floyd tribute band im seeing in Sept has a full light show. Yeah, it may not be as big as the real one was, but it adds to the experience. I respect the HF1 guys alot. Not to mention, anyone that gets on stage in spandex has way more balls than me..& since they are in spandex, you can see their balls.
Let them do their thing....not that they anyone's approval anyway!!! Like I said, im there for the reunion gig!
The covers vs. original thing is played out. Especially on this forum.
As much as people say they hate them, everyone hops into the discussion. Its better just to leave it alone.
All it is, is a difference of musical goals. Thats it. People have different musical goals. You cant apply why youre doing music to the other guy's goals. Who would you want to do that anyway?
Some people want to make money from music, other's just wanna write songs. They each require different musical goals. As Vic said, this area is predominately cover band ground. Im not jumping for joy at that fact, thats the way it is. If you want to play out every weekend, you need covers and alot of them. Some people dont mind playing 1 show a year. Again, musical goals.

This was a great thread. Alot of good things were said. Everyone didnt/doesnt agree with eachother, but that makes for great conversation. We get to learn about eachother that way. The exchange of thoughts an ideas is what has made mankind great. Lets not try to take that away from this board.

Not answering this monitor question twice. The only kinda echo I care for comes out of an Echoplex.

Did someone really say HF1 suck, or that they just didn't like them/their dress up?

Where did this turn into covers vs. originals by the way?

Oh man, I just totally got told by a poster who has posted four times in the past three years. This doesn't even deserve a response other than...

Only on Rockpage could a thread asking about the status of a particular band turn into something so epic.
