Songwriters contest at Penn State Altoona
Anyone hear how Tom Keith did at the contest Saturday at PSU?
I was across the street on my riding mower doing the front 40 and wondered "gee why are all those cars at PSU" Duh, then I remembered I wanted to go support Tommy, but dropped the ball.....
Peace, Tood

Yes Tom Keith "The Bass player" hehe...
He did an acoustic gig with Frank Dixon while playing bass with us (Half Tempted)
Tom was one of my best friends when we were younger and we stayed up answering "All Night Album Rock" questions as "Squealer" (AC/DC homage)... I played guitar and Tom would pester the crap outta me to show him some chords.. He finally took home an old guitar I had and put new strings on it one weekend...
I'd show him a few chords on Sat and he must have practiced all week cause by the next Sat he would have it down... So I told him to get a bass and learn to play bass cause everyone always wanted to be the guitar player no one we hung with ever wanted to "just be the bass player" hehe....
He then turned out to be a kick ass bass player but was equally as talented on guitar....
I saw his pic in the Altoona Mirror a few Sundays ago cause he won the first round of the contest and was going on to perform at the PSU campus during arts fest weekend....
I have tried to find him and thought sinceI live across the street from the campus I'd go see him...
I started mowing the grass and wondered wy all the cars at PSU Altoona only to find out too late it was the contest I wanted to see..
Arghhhh...
So yes I am "desperatly seeking Susan" (Tom Keith) hehe...
Any help please? He doesn't owe me money .. I just miss the turd!!!!!

Here are the results from the Songwriter Contest at the Blair County Arts Festival, sponsored by Data Music Services.
Justin Cain won the adult category with his song "Ten Trillion Dollars." Justin accompanied himself on guitar and harmonica.
Ethan Eldred won the youth category with a song called "Untitled." Ethan accompanied himself on piano.
Both songwriters win a demo session at Data Music Services.
According to Dave Villani, the contest was a huge success in its first year, with 26 entries altogether, and 10 of those selected to perform at the Festival. He said the pavilion was filled with people on hand to hear the songwriters. He hopes to continue the contest again next year.

Thank you Jim...
I think that is an awsome thing for the local music scene and was shocked at how it kinda slipped under alot of peoples radar...
I'm sure with a little PR it'll be better/bigger each year.....
I wonder if anyone video taped it? I am really bummed I missed it....
I'm such a doofus.....
Peace, Tood
P.S. Congrats Justin and Ethan.... I wonder what the "youth" category was?
How old is Ethan? and were there fairly young people entered too? if so that would also be very awsome....

I think that's a pretty cool promo tool for his studio.
Kinda like winning an adjustment at the chiropractor.
Not being a dick either, some people like winning adjustments from the chiropractor and I'm sure Data music, doesn't set you up for three sessions a week for the next 3 years.
Sorry, I had to put that disclaimer, cuz some of you bitches is dramatic.

This guitar player did not enter that contest, but I think he would win any guitar contest for a kid 1 year out of high school. Here is a video of a kid named Ethan Shoop, from Hollidaysburg. I do not think he currently plays in a band. I think he is 19.
