I have that cd Mike at it is awesome.

Check out Marshall Tucker, and espically Toy Caldwell at around the 2:00 mark. Playing all those licks with his thumb.

I'm currently listening to Do What You Do by Mudvayne, because that's what's currently on my To Learn List. I literally have to dissect it measure by measure, because Ryan Martinie does so many little variations throughout the bass line. Dude is a total bad ass.

As far as other stuff that I'm listening to...

Extreme - Saudades de Rock
I Mother Earth - Scenery and Fish
Nickelback - Dark Horse
Great White - Best of (1986 - 1992) (I always say the only thing worse than Great White being known for the club fire is being known for that Ian Hunter cover, because their original stuff kicks so much ass)
Dream Theater - Train of Thought
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Metallica - Death Magnetic

I've also been watching a lot of stuff on Youtube lately, including a lot of Green Day footage (I'm psyched for the new album). I found some really old footage of them playing some outside gig around the 1039 Smooth era. People were pretty much ignoring them. If they only knew! Also, I've been checking out some new grass stuff, like Nickle Creek and Robinella and the CC String Band.

I heard this KICK ASS song from the 70's and can't find out who recorded it..."Might as well go for a soda, nobody hurt, nobody died..." It is WAY ahead of it's time and we are currently working on it as a cover. Other then that, I have been listening to Metallica "Ride the Lighting," Black Label Society "1919 Eternal," and a lot of 80's stuff.

I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting him several times before he passed away (RIP) when I played in Sidewalk Romeo. We did some shows with The Marshall Tucker Band. Toy was a great guy and a hell of a player. I used to laugh at him because he would "borrow" guitar strings and picks from me before the shows. I used to ask him "don't you have a sponsorship or something....you should look into this". What a great memory for me. I also used to get a kick out of their bass player because he would stand on stage with his back to the audience right in front of his amp wearing a Mexican poncho.
