I feel ashamed to have my name two inches from the name 'Creed'. Thanks Kevin.

Ya know - This tour will make millions ..

I didn't think they were that bad, I didn't care for Stapp's generic nasal sounding vocals, however there were some decent guitar and drum parts in there somewhere. You can definitely take something from them, even though hating them is the band wagon.

I for one like some of what Creed does, as well as a few other bands that seem to get trashed on here. I think it all comes down to different people like different styles. I can listen to alot of things even if not my personal favorite style if it is performed well. And there must be quite a few people out there that like these bands since they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves.

I don't think their music is crap at all. It's well-written musically with great hooks (lyrics are a bit bland, but whatever). I just think in this instance just like anything else folks are being sheep. You hear that Creed sucks enough and you start to think that it was your idea that they sucked in the first place (when really it was gradually fed to you by a group of people over time). I consider myself guilty of this "sheep mentality" all the time, and I am constantly trying to evaluate whether my opinions are my own or someone else's. While I think Creed was ok, I liked Altar Bridge much better--even though they never reached Creed's level of popularity. This is mainly due to my opinion of Scott Stapp (SS = GIANT DOUCHE). I would not let my opinion of SS color my feelings on the band, though. I can hate Scott Stapp and still enjoy a Creed song every once and awhile (haven't heard one for a few years, though).

And since I'm spewing my opinion all over this thread, I might as well just say it. I think Nickelback SUCKS BALLS (I hate, hate, hate their stupid lyrics and their pop rock BULLSHIT style SO MUCH!!!) and I see them being loved on now because that's what's in, but later being hated on much like Creed is now. As much as I hate them, I will admit that, like Creed, they know how to write a good hook. I draw a lot of comparisons between those two groups.

I always liked Creed, I don't see why other people hate them so much. It's not their fault that radio played their music way too much. I will admit that Scott Stapp brought a lot of the problems on himself, but I'm not going to hate a band because the lead singer is an idiot. Like Robthedrummer said, hating Creed is the band wagon.

+1 to hating Nickleback. I cannot stand that band.. The band has good music.. but the singer ruins it.. I think its cheese.. anyone could right a song about something in her mouth, and it would be a hit in this day and age.. I dont know any guy that doesnt enjoy a good knobber. and you know the girls like it too.. just like Crazy bitch from buckcherry.. and the lyrics to nickles song, I like your pants around your feet..

Sure sex sells.. but at least get a band full of a bunch of pervs, to do songs like that, like Janes Addiction, not some band full of soccer dads, or ex book club nerds.. at least josh todd is the real deal.. He looks like a walking bottle of booze with drugs in it..

In my opinion music sucks. There is some good shit out there, but its getting ignored.. I dont think any songs today will stand the test of time and become classics.. where is all the timeless music?

I am just so tired of radio, and new music coming out.. Everything sounds the same. this band sounds like this band..and so on.
Recording Records DIY, with more than one good song. Watch for my new band

Back in the 80's, the critics hated on Bon Jovi, especially Rolling Stone, who as I recall labeled "Wanted Dead or Alive" one of the most boring rock songs ever. Yet today, it has withstood the test of time and is regarded as one of Bon Jovi's classics. And Rolling Stone has changed their tune over Bon Jovi over the years, and now usually gives their albums positive reviews.

Poison got trashed mercilessly by critics and hair-band haters back in the '80s, but their biggest hits have endured the test of time, still get played on the radio and show up on most all cover bands' set lists.

I personally think good, simple song hooks stand the best chance of enduring the test of time. And while it's fashionable to trash Nickelback now, I wouldn't be surprised to hear at least a few of their songs still getting played 20 years from now. The group does come up with catchy song hooks.

I'd challenge anyone around here to write an album's worth of material that has the hooks, production, and oh yeah, vocal harmony arrangements that Nickelback consistently puts out. They're not my favorite band in the world, but I give credit where it's due. Those cats have their stuff together. Some of their lyrics are Grade-A Cheese, but with the exception of some more progressive stuff, let's face it: rock music is not high art.

As far as Creed - I agree that Stapp's a douche, and it's easy to let that douchy-ness cloud your perception of them. I thought My Own Prison was one of the best tunes on mainstream radio at the time of its release. I remember that Creed started getting popular right when most rock music was on the way out to make way for all of the pseudo-R&B stuff. They were a breath of fresh air. I really enjoyed My Own Prison and Human Clay, but I thought that they were sounding a little too contrived and produced by Weathered. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with a lot of music nowadays. There is no artist development, but that's a rant for a whole 'nother thread. ;) BTW, Creed's label was an indie (i.e., Windup Records). If they release any new material, it will be interested to see what they do as far as a label goes.

Damn, I hope I don't sound like a pompous ass with this post. LOL

Well, to be quite honest, I think a Creed reunion is a great idea. I've always liked creed, their music, and their players, until stapp became a drunken wife abusing asshole. But anyway, I think its funny that this is happening because when I met Alter Bridge in Pittsburgh and talked to them before the show, they all hated stapp and the limitations he put on their styles. I made the comment to Scott Phillips "I'm really impressed with the drum work and the overall creativity of One Day Remains (first AB album)." And Tremonti said "Yea, it's definitely a breath of fresh air being out of creed and being able to get more technical. When we were with creed it was all about stapp being the show, and we had to limit what we could do so that he would have the spotlight"

Mark Tremonti was also stated in an interview saying that he had no contact with Stapp what-so-ever, and that there would have to be MILLIONS of dollars on the table before he would even think of considering a creed reunion, and that alter bridge is is main priority. Well, as much as I hate to say it, those guys are going to see the $$$ rolling in from the Creed tours and album(s) and Alter Bridge will be no more. I have a feeling, but I hope my feeling is wrong.

Creed was actually the first band on wind-up records when they started in 1995. Creed originally tried to release their cd under their own label called Blue Collar Records, but they only released 1000 of those CD's before the label flopped and wind-up picked them up and re-made their album. Creed is definitely with wind-up records right now, but I don't know how that's gonna work because Alter Bridge is with Universal Republic and UR has a pretty big contract with Alter Bridge.

SHIT. My inner Creed Geek is showing, but I think that a lot of people on here who know me know how extensively i followed them and loved their music. I'm not ashamed to admit it because they inspired me to do what im doing right now. Bands all have different effects on their listeners, and I just so happen to relate to creed more than any other band that i've heard. If it wasn't for creeds music, i can honestly say that i would have never picked up a guitar and a microphone.

Now you wanna talk about shit music and a band that sold out to complete mushy shit rock....Staind. But i do love their new song All I Want

There's so much fucking awesomeness in metallica's first four albums, it's rediculous. Sorry, can't stand creed, they make me want to puke (almost as much as prickelback). Haven't been too crazy about metallica since justice untill death magnetic. That album is restoring my faith in them.
