Peter C's will rip you off! (I DONT THINK SO !!!!)
i wasnt gong to get involved with this, but my friendship with big john tells me to go forward.
Im not in a band, ive never played for a club. But when my chips were down, and had few funds, john always helped me out with a tab. i know people who were just starting out, and john gave them a chance, and that band grew, and so did "this band" and "that band".
i dont think big john should be mentioned on this forum unless its because of his greatness, yes, i said greatness. i never knew this man to dis anyone, unless you fucked him over first.
big john, many of us out here are for ya, the ones against you, screw'em.

That is a pretty bold statement.
I would like to make a request though. I want you to kiss me. I liked to be kissed when I am getting screwed. Man enough to do it? C'mon big boy, pucker up.

Hello everyone....
Allright, enough allready. If you don't like the way Big John does business....then stay away. It is his club to run as he sees fit.
Furthermore, I'd bet that most of these people complaining called him and he didn't call them. (in most cases, not all)
Just remember that when you complain too much....it only makes yourself look bad. I'd do this sh!t for free....and have....plenty of times!
Keep jammin' and SUPPORT your local music scene!

P.S.
I'm not speaking to anyone in particular....just food for thought.

well it's been said PROMOTE and that's the key, DON'T LEAVE IT UP TO THE CLUB TO DO THIS FOR YOU IT'S NOT THERE JOB, some clubs have what they call a built in crowd meaning No Matter who's there you'll have a crowd and that's good and it can be bad, bottom line if the rolling stones were coming to an arena close to you and there was NO PROMOTION who do you thinks going to show up???? NO ONE, now that may be a Bit extreme but it get's the point across, the clubs around here are NO different that clubs around the country it's was said to me and it really stuck with me, unsigned, unknown, unless you have a name in your band that's going to draw people for you you CAN'T expect a large turnout without the internet, posters/flyers word of mouth, if the club's cash regester isn't ringing in sales the band CAN NOT expect to recieve pay one hand washes the other the band and the club MUST work as a team for without the clubs we as Musicians have NO PLACE TO PLAY, I can see Both sides of the Story and I agree with the club and the bands it's a catch 22, anymore it's a crap shoot, I've played at Big john's and I've made some Really GREAT money and then I've played there and walked out with my Shirt due to the LACK of promotion NOT BIG JOHN RIPPING US OFF, just as we are in the business to make MUSIC the clubs is in the business to make money and if the club makes money so does the band, times are tough all over around here and abroad. I would play at Big John's with or with out pay I have a lot of respect for john and Jodee there just plan Good people, there nothing more than john would like to do is to pay the bands and believe me it does hurt to tell a band "I Can't Pay you" that's gotta be one of the worst things a bar owner has to say to a band for he knows the time that's involved in putting a band together the hard work, JOHN DOES NOT RIP YOU OFF, he's ONLY looking out for his business and he Should. sorry about ramblin on so much

Well, an A for effort, but a D- for punctuation, fragments and run-ons. See corrections!

This is why we do two reads at the newspaper before it goes to proofreading ...

"Me" should be "myself". Since it's referring back to "I", it would be in the reflexive case. (in this instance, it's an object of the preposition "to")
(Musicmadman, I mean no offense. We're just trying to add some comic relief to this thread.

PS: It's also interesting to note that you work at a newspaper, because you didn't put a comma before "and" in a series. (Newspapers never put a comma before "and" in a series.)

The great comma debate gets me pissed off every time I think about it. At work, there is a comma nazi who claims that it MUST be before the and. Everytime I bust her chops and refuse to put it in. She claims that in one of her proofreading classes a law suit was brought just because of the lack of a comma. Apparently, there were three children that were getting property/money from their deceased parent's estate. Jack, Jane and Joe... Joe got screwed out of some assets because of the comma. Somehow the judge ruled that he would get less than his third. It looks stupid there, AP doesn't want one there, but she does. She is a pain in the ass.
