The bassist for legendary rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd has died. TMZ.com reports Ean Evans passed away Wednesday after a short battle with cancer. He was 48-years-old. Evans joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2001 following the death of original bassist Leon Wilkeson. When Evans was diagnosed with cancer in 2008, the band planned to carry on its 2009 tour with replacement bassist Robert Kearns. They asked audiences to pray for Evans. The musician is survived by his wife Eva and their two daughters.
Back in January, keyboardist Billy Powell died at the age of 56. In 1977, three other band members were killed in a plane crash.
