Drummers - The many voices of a snare drum...

Post by Hawk »

The snare drum could be considered our most central voice on a kit. Yet we can work it to get many sounds (not talking about tuning changes).

This is a Steve Smith video demonstrating the many voices with a snare drum. And keep an eye on his hands / technique during the demonstration.

BTW did you notice how he occasionally hums while playing ? I catch myself doing that too. Do you hum while you play ?

we have a recording of one of our shows with the drummer humming to every tune.. some finny stuff considering our drummer can't even hum a tune in key...
