I went there this weekend and I am tellin you what I wantoo wack me an Elk, this area is a sportsman paradise me and my boy hiked for hours in the woods and I did see elk an ol timer there was tellin me that he knows guys that use head to toe camo and tinx and you can get them real close. I did get some fishin in but not much between the 2 of us we got 6 pretty nice trout I freze them until I have enough for a big fry then I go to it. I love fresh trout best but unless you have a really big day therer's not usually enough to do em fresh I also like to filet croppie what I do is I fish for them off and on all summer and keep them in the freezer and then in Sept we have usually between 100 - 200 of em and then we do them on the grill with butter and lemon pepper.

Never got to see an elk... I was driving through the State land near Quehanna Boot Camp, and saw a bobcat so big I thought I had hallucinated it. I had no idea they even got that big... he had to be 40-50 lbs. I always thought they were a little bigger than a housecat.
I was warned to be careful driving because elk do BIG damage.--->JMS

Nothing quite as fun as doing 70+mph up Rt. 255 at 5:30am, come around a bend and 2 elk standing in your lane. They don't even flinch.

Driving down sinamahoning road at a good speed is even more fun. Some of those turns are pretty wicked ..

There's a road up that way, I think called Wykoff Run Rd. (where I saw that bobcat, coincidentally) that's really fun to blast down in my compact 4x4. In fact, like the road up to Blueknob State Park, once I reached bottom, I turned around, drove back up, and ran it again! The next time I was up that way, I drove it again, but there were motorcycles everywhere, so I took it easy. Much fun!--->JMS

Wycoff run is pretty neat!! good rattlesnake place when it gets real hot out! Did you ever stop at the waterfall, it would be on your right on the way down to driftwood?

There is a pretty neat little damn down there that people refer to as the "powder Damn". It is near the bottom just as you start getting into the camps. Its about 7 or 8 feet deep and it is 50 degrees year roiund. Great place for a swim when it is hot out or a great place to bath while your at camp!!!!!

The waterfall at Wycoff is awesome. Especially in early spring when all of snow melts. The one time I went through , on the way back to Toon town , it was driving through a water ride. The stream rushing, there were mini water falls and spouts coming from the other side of road. It was cool and a little scary the same time. The whole time I was thinking the side of mountain could just give way at anytime, and It WILL be a raging rapid ride!

Wycoff Run. I'll try to remember that.
I know the pool that was mentioned... in addition to being an excellent trip for fun driving, I think it's one of the most beautiful places I've been to in the state. The cold stream right next to the road, with the waterfalls... it's one of those places where even the manliest man in the world would stop and drink it all in. Gorgeous place.--->JMS
