I don't have a new favorite at the moment...Shadows Fall and Lamb of God are pretty sweet though...I'm excited for the new Cradle of Filth to come out...

I was really disappointed with Slipknot's album....the way everyone called them shredder this, guitar guru that....the album while musicially ok, is not shredding, and should not be considered....additionally the vocals are pretty bad for what slipknot was

And the new MegaDeth \m/

I'm glad a few of the old guard still carry the torch....

Megadeth has a new album coming?! That's cool. I thought that Dave couldn't play guitar anymore. That's great that they released another album.

Yeah, he went to rehab and had his arm fixed....he took lessons from some dude as well...the new album is already out btw, chris poland plays on it and it sounds like old Deth....some cool stuff...definitely worth checking out...

I think Slipknot's new album is their best one yet. It has the most wide variety of sounds, unlike previous albums which sounded mostly the same the whole way through. And even though I am a drummer, some of the guitar parts are definitely shredding.

Dude, there is no way that that is shredding...go listen to Far Beyond the Sun by Yngwie, Stream of Consciousness by Dream Theater, Life Force by Vinnie Moore, almost anything by Paul Gilbert, or anything from any of the afore mentioned artists....

Better yet, go to www.martyrdom1.com and click the shred nations logo for a definition of what shred is....Slipknot's guitarists are not shredders...they can play but, they don't shred on that album...

"Contraband" from Velvet Revolver. This is the album that Axl WISHES he could have done...

"The Other Side" from Godsmack. Good accoustic stuff that I didn't expect.

"Archetype" from Fear Factory. No Dino on this record, but Ray Hererra SMOKES on drums, good God!!

Fear Factory - Archetype
Machine Head - Through The Ashes of Empires (best work yet for them!)
In Flames - Soundtrack to your escape
Grip Inc. - Incorporated
Damageplan - New Found Power

Rock:
Velvet Revolver - Contraband
Incubus - A Crow Left of The Murder

Country:
Keith Urban - Be Here
Rascal Flatts - Feels Like Today (out Tuesday, but I know it'll be great!)

Christian Rock:
Jeremy Camp - Carried Me : A Worship Project
Building 429 - Space In Between Us
Pillar - Where Do We Go From Here
Desperation - From The Rooftops

Overall, I think the best and most complete album of this year so far is the Jeremy Camp album. It's gotten a majority of the playing time for me anyway.
