Mastering is the process after mixing. Mastering puts the final polish on the track and is where the track volume comes from.
Most of the work is done in the mixing stage, id say it hasnt been through the MIXING stage. Most people dont know the difference between Mixing and Mastering, so i thought id clear that up.
The mixing process includes: changing levels, panning, EQ adjustments , Effects, frequency slotting, Automation and more.
By the way, good song guys. Once its mixed, it will sound awesome.

Im sorry, I wasnt explaining it to him. I was just offering some information that defines the processes. I still think that most people dont know the difference, unless they are into recording and producing. Im really sorry for trying to offer helpful info.Killjingle wrote:I didnt feel the need to explain mastering to Mike. Im pretty sure most of the folks here know what it is.

Actually I think Kirch mixed the song quickly through computer speakers because he blew his good speakers. I trust Kirch and his judgement on levels 100% and we couldn't ask for a better person to work with.
We asked him for it last minute to take to an all ages show so I thought I'd post it. He did it quickly for us because he is so accommodating.
I was told it wasn't mastered and was mixed quickly. I was trying to relay what info was given to me.
I do appreciate the comments/information.

I really didnt know the difference until about 2 years ago when we ventured to Spider Studios in Cleveland to record one of my past bands demo's. Ben Schigel produced it and filled me in on alot of things that I really had no idea about one being the mixing and mastering difference!FourthDimensionAudio wrote:Im sorry, I wasnt explaining it to him.
