DREAM BASS!!!
DREAM BASS!!!
I've been sitting here for a couple hours scouring thru eBay looking at basses and there are seems to be an abundance of VERY nice basses on there, like a Status Graphite Stealth Headless 6er w/ LEDs!!!
I have a nasty habit of treating basses like whores- I'll use 'em until I get a bit tired of them or until I find one that makes me a little happier. So....I can't quite put my finger on one 'dream bass'. I don't even know if I could narrow it down to a list of 20! My 'whoring' has gotten so bad that I keep a wish list:
http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c154/ ... %20Basses/
In the last year or so I have found myself wanting standard Fender style basses more and more. I've even been wanting vintage basses like a Fender Coronado, 50's EKO violin bass, or I'd even love getting back an Ovation Magnum that I used to have. However I still love the exotics and boutiques. I dig 4 strings up to 12 strings, fretted, fretless, headed, headless.....anything that might sound great or unique.
So bassist, what are your top 3 DREAM BASSES???

i think number one would be a carl thompson. it's weird. i've never played one. i don't know anyone that has one, so i've never even heard one outside of a primus cd, i just think it'd be awsome to have one. the craftsmanship on the website just look spectacular.
number two. haha, i love spectors, so naturally...

yea yea... i know, it's terrible... this addiction that you started, dan!
number three... i've been digging the musicman bongo. i know, it looks like a toilet, but there is just something about them.
these dream basses may not be "unattainable" (except for the CT) but that's perfect for me. something to work for, right? aahh, who knows, i'd probably hate anything other than my spectors...

I love your taste Ryan!! I got a huge hankerin for a Bongo. You can't beat 4 bands of onboard eq! I don't care if it does look like a toilet seat. BMW actually had a hand in designing it!
Ed sold me on the Bongo (and Myung):

And after recently finding out how old CT is, I'm determined to get rich and custom order one from him! He has a very tiny shop in NY and does simply amazing work. Check him out:

graphite pearl/rosewood

I have most of what I want. I've been dreaming of a strat replica bass, like this http://www.landingbass.com/L300.html . and a tele replica bass. I also really want to try a spector.
Stand back, I like to rock out.
If you want a Strat style bass, you may like my latest crush!
MM slapped 3 bass single coils on the Albert Lee sig guitar body and added their latest 4-band EQ for a sweet lookin bass:

And I did think of a bass that is definitely in my top 3....A USA Spector NS-6XL loaded w/ piezos an exotic top and maybe an ebony or birdseye board. But....that would run as much as a Carl Thompson!
Sorry for being a thread hog. I'm more bored than I thought! I gotta get a job! I love what you guys are dreaming about so far.

Flea still is under contract with modulus till the end of this year I thought.MOONDOGGY wrote:I didn't know the Flea bass is now the Funk Unlimited!!! What is Flea playing now? Please tell me he went back to Spector!!!
then I'm pretty sure, if it turns out to be real, he'll be using his own line late 09 or early 2010 (fleabass).

eh... i'm not really digging them, the big al, i mean. i think that has to be a "love it or hate it" style, but i wasn't particularly fond of the bongo either. it kinda grew on me. so this one may also.

do yourself a favor. try one. the low mid growl is just... it's just tops. i tried fenders, j's and p's but they just don't have that... it's like a low string on a piano. a gritty burp. it's like gain-less distorion, but it still rings like a bell. oh man, i think i just messed my trousers a little

cmor: that conklin is b e a you tiful. diggin on the blue to green fade.

This may sound cheesy, but I got my dream bass back in August when my Carvin Icon 5 arrived. I chose the exact wood combinations that I wanted. If I could order it all over again, the only thing that I'd change is to get a drop-shadow on the logo. Sure, there are other basses I'd like to get and will probably eventually get, but this is the bass I'd run into a burning building to save.

However, I'd like to some day own a nice American Fender Jazz Bass five or a Rickenbacker 4003/5 (which purchasing would put me into poverty). Currently, I'm realling digging on the Schecter Riot, especially after trying one down at Music Emporium. I'd still like to eventually own a Warwick, particuarly a Dolphin Pro (I'd be using it to busk in the streets after getting it and the Ric). I'd also dig a high-end Spector.
The Icon, however, is my go to bass.

Kent really digs his Carvin rig, and I've always been impressed with his tone. Of course, the player has a lot to do with that, but Kent requires a special tone for his techinques to shine through the mix. Carvin released a micro head. It's about 500 watts with a tube in the preamp. You could probably toss it in a laptop bag.
