~*~My Song~*~
I've seen alot of what bands are your favorites...what ones suck... favorite song...etc., but I don't think I've seen this one.
If you had to pick a song or lyrics from a few songs out there that most described your life, what would it/they be? Include a few lyrics to show what you mean from any songs that seem to be your life.

Hmmm
Local Band-- Spinebelt -- " Change adapt Evolve "
Pro-- Rush -- " Time stand Still "
Have in my "death plan" for it to be played at my funeral.. like the song and the message.

I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

Hmm, I've been thinking about this for a while, and I really can't think of a single song that would describe my life. If I were to pick a song title then it would probaly be Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind. Though the song content wouldn't describe it. *LOL*
I think Lateralis by Tool is the song I most identify with. I'm an analytical person, and I have a habit of overanalyzing things. Man, I love that album. Everyone likes Aenima, which is a great album, but Lateralis is just so ethereal.

"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
hmmm
I've been thinking, but nothing has really spoken to me yet.
Well, Lisa, you know me better than most anyone - what do you think? I would bet that it would be a song that was played on Bob and Tom or Doctor Demento!!

Starry Eyes-Motley Crue
Starry Eyes from Motley Crue has always been me, even when I had lyrics on my web page and dedicated songs its the one that I picked for me...Maybe not how you all see me but how I see me

Thom, I am ruined! I will forever see you, hear a guitar whistle with the words "Some people call me Maurice!" let me think about that one for a lil bit. I'll get back to you in a day or two. ::makes face:: The hokey pokey keeps coming to mind too though...byndrsn wrote:hmmm

For me, that's easy...
"You can choose a ready guide,
In some celestial voice...
If you choose not to decide,
You still have made a choice...
You can choose from phantom fears,
And kindess that can kill...
I will choose a path that's clear,
I will choose FREEWILL."
"Freewill"-Rush (Peart, Lee, Lifeson)
That is the mantra for my life.

This song described how I felt growing up. Even sometimes when I am listening to it now, it still upsets me and chokes me up.

Maynard who? Neil who?
Rush, Tool, and Pink Floyd cannot possibly compare to the most underrated musician on the planet. Anyone ready to face grimm, gritty reality masked in the hard-handed honesty of a jaded southern man should definitely check out Jon Wayne.
No, not the actor.
Jon Wayne is a genius. Jon Wayne is a buffoon. John Wayne is a prophet. John Wayne is a voice for our generation.
From the title track to "Texas Funeral" (and featured on the "From Dusk 'till Dawn" soundtrack)
"My wife left me 'bout a week ago
She took the kids and she took all my dough
She peed on the carpet, she shot my horse
Now things have gone from bad to better to worse"
I mean, the pain just drips from his lyrics! Haven't we all felt like that at one time or another?
Well, maybe not;)
More information and sound samples can be found at:
http://www.jonwayne.com/
From the official site, some insights into the recording of Jon's first album:
" And he stuck to his dream and he did make his record. And strangely enough, he found a record label willing to press it and distribute it. Of course there were compromises--the kind that come between the artist and his art. The suits at the label were full of suggestions:
"Turn the goddamned drums down."
"Is he speaking English?"
"Do you guys know what a key is?"
"There’s a hooker in the control room—says one of you bast*&ds stole her teet."
"I'm not recording anything else until that crazy motherfucker puts the gun down!""
Yeah...that was really on the official site.
Before you visit Jon online, remember:
You were warned.

Mrs. Potter's Lullaby - I'm not that big of a C.C. Fan tho..
There's way too many lyrics to post so highlights....
"If dreams are like movies, then memories are films about ghosts. You can never escape, you can only move south down the coast "
"If you've never stared off in the distance, then your life is a shame. And though I'll never forget your face, sometimes I can't remember my name"
"Well, there's a piece of Maria in every song that I sing. And the price of a memory is the memory of the sorrow it brings."
"When the last king of Hollywood shatters his glass on the floor.... and orders another Well, I wonder what he did that for. That's when I know that I have to get out cause I have been there before. So I gave up my seat at the bar and I head for the door."
"We drove out to the desert just to lie down beneath this bowl of stars. We stand up at the Palace like it's the last of the great Pioneertown bars. We shout out these songs against the clang of electric guitars. You can see a million miles tonight But you can't get very far"

I've heard that before, but that's crazy. He really doesn't show it off too much. I guess modesty is what make the great ones though.

Hey, it's not who's best. It's who has the "song most influential on your life. And Rush's "Freewill" was most influential on mine.

*Continues to poke Kent with a stick.*

I really like Rush and King's X lyrics. Those words and music have helped through the tough times. As far as a song that reflects me as a person its hard to say There are so many good songs that you can find something of yourself in but after singing these lyrics and putting the emotion into it.
I found that this song touches on many different times and aspects of my life.

Yeah, Kevin Cadogan of Third Eye Blind is another Satch alumnus that many people don't know about. (and of course, Larry LaLonde of Primus)Mackovyak wrote:I've heard that before, but that's crazy. He really doesn't show it off too much. I guess modesty is what make the great ones though.
It's funny that many players have chops out the wazoo, but you'd never know by listening to their albums. Page Hamilton of Helmet is an accomplished Jazz guitarist, but you can't tell by listening to a Helmet album.

Theres one song that really made me think of some things that went down through my childhood that stuck with me. Does anyone remember "4 U" from the KoRn Issues album? It was a really erie minute long song. Once I figured out the lyrics it instantly related to my situation with my father or lack thereof I should say. I guess it could mean a number of things but thats what It meant for me, here's the lyrics. Sorry, didn't mean to be a buzz killer...lol
This shit right here is for you.
All your faces I can see.
You all think it's about me.
I'm about to break.
This is my fate
Am I still damned to a life
Of misery and hate.
You would never known.
What I've done for you.
What you may put me through.
I'd do it for you.
I could have never lived.
If it wasn't for you.
This shit right here is for you.
All your faces I can see.
You all think it's about me.
I'm about to break.
This is my fate
Am I still damned to a life
Of misery and hate.
You would never known.
What I've done for you.

I'd do it for you.
I could have never lived.
If it wasn't for you.
