'At's funny. My family went there a couple of times during over over
to Toonatown. Rob and I were just talking about the place not too
long ago.

I remember having a MASSIVE steak.

I too had b-day parties at Alaskaland. I just can't remember the little door.
Where was it ? Where did it go.? It was alway very busy. I seem to remember a bear. The volcano ice cream was my favorite too. I can remember the food LoL

Yeah, my steady girlfriend set me up for the "Birthday Thing". They anounced my name and said, " Happy Birthday to Andy who has reached the draftable age of 19." Then a couple of months later, I really did get drafted!

I think there is still a Pappys in Johnstown ....

Yeah, the "Pappy's" in Johnstown is still on Eisenhower Blvd.

I want to say Vaux Electronics? No, that doesn't sound right... seems to me it sounded kind of like the 8-track car stereos they sold there, like Kraco or Jensen or Midland. That's gonna eat at me all day now.

Wasn't it something like Dave's Electronics? I used to buy my turntable needles and cartridges there. Ha ha...turntable!

Last week I found an Alaskaland menu on Ebay. Then this post came up about the place. And last night I went to a benefit and ran into an old friend. We we talking about jobs that we once had when we were younger...and what does he bring up...that he was the manager at....Alaskaland. How bizarre is that? I am going to play the lottery - or maybe just eat some ice cream. And Bobby, I vote for bringing the place back to life.

What was the 'record and stereo' store in the 'old' part of the Mall called? I think it was beside the original Yum Yum Tree...pre-fire & new part of the mall.

Harley, way back when. I think it was simply called Book and Record Shop. If you got past the books and records I think they also had stereo gear for sale. I also worked at Sound Concepts. A pretty cool store as I remember, especially because Pappy's Pizza was next door. Also, we had monster stereo systems in that store. The Polk Audio SDA speakers with Hafler amps, and Nakamichi Dragon gear. Yeah, and Ron what was the turntable of the day then?

I had the ticket stub until about 1995 and then got lost in the many moves I've had. Along with the sweet Damage Inc. tour shirt (the white one).
A photo copy of the promo poster would be sweet too,huh.

wow! those were the good ol'days. I remember them both Pappys pizza was cool cause you could go up to the plexiglass window and watch the piemaker put on a little show as he tossed the pizza dough.

Alaskaland, I remember the volcano on my cousin's B-day. And I remember my mom telling the waitress that she was very thirsty and would like the biggest glass of pepsi they had, so she brought out what looked like a giant wine glass which could hold about a two litre. maybe the bowl for the Mt. McKinley?

Yea, great turntables. A few years ago my b-friend got one in excellent condition along with a set of excellent Yamaha speakers at a yard sale for a total of like 10-20 dollars. I just hope the cartidge lasts us awhile, that will be expensive to replace. I think when lots of people get older they give up listening to music, its really sad.

I still have my ticket stubs and my t-shirt. Still one of my very favorite concerts. February 2 - 1982 and the ticket was $9.75!! Wow...is that really possible?
