Kansas/REO Speedwagon/Styx last night...
Anybody else go to this show in J-town last night? If you didn't you missed a hell of a show. Place was packed too. Hopefully the large crowd will make the War Memorial realize they should start booking more shows.

I knew nothing about the show.
Thanks for letting us know ahead of time.
I'm a big fan of Styx up to the Mr. Roboto album, thats where I lost interest in them.
But yeah man, youre right, they should have more live shows there.
Or I should say, shows that are worth going to.
Are all the original members back with Styx or not?

I saw the ad on TV a couple times and someone posted it in "upcoming shows" a few weeks ago.

BTW, it was quite awesome.

I had no idea, either. I'd have been all over it, I haven't seen a national in forever. I'd miss Gary Richraith on guitar for REO, though. Always loved how his solo's were singable, it made them very memorable. Everybody can pretty much hum the solo for Keep On Lovin' You from memory. Very simple, and very effective.
I also lost touch with Styx around the time of Mr. Roboto. Dennis Deyoung wanted to take the group in a more Broadway-musical direction, which was pretty lame. They still have their 70's glory to fall back on, though.
I can't imagine Kansas was exactly terrible either, they never disappoint.--->JMS

This show was a sell out of 4,000 tickets due to the fact that way more than 2,000 seats were free tickets given out to business associates and employees of McAneny Brothers, who sponsored the show as part of their annual business meetings. They put on a big show once every year in Johnstown in conjunction with their event but they were always country acts in the past. They sell the remaining tickets to the general public to help offset their expenses. It is a great idea. All of the tickets were gone within the first couple days they were on sale. I was not able to get a ticket and I know others who missed out too.
I brought a show to the arena in 2007 and have discussed doing more there with all of the officials involved but the expenses to use that venue are so outrageous along with all of the expenses to put on a major show and the fact that people in this area do not support events very well that most promoters avoid Johnstown in lieu of Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, State College, and Altoona.
