Anyone else see this. I loved it. I recommend anyone of any religion or lack thereof to watch it. Some really interesting stuff, and some really funny shit too!

It is looking at religion from the outside. I mean it's def. from a cynic/skeptics point of view, but it's no Mike Moore flick.songsmith wrote:I'd like to see this, myself. Is it open-minded, or do you figure out it's stance early-on? I'd hoped it was looking at religion from outside.--->JMS

Did you think Bill Maher was being rude and disrespectful to the religious people? Because I didn't really think so, I mean a few times, but mostly he just had questions he wanted answered. I mean he really wanted an answer and couldn't get one. Some of the religious people were more disrespectful than he was. Someone argued with me about that, that he was extremely rude. I didn't so much think so.....

I can see how a typical closed minded bible thumper would think so though.
I liked what he said to those truckers. "Thank you for being Christ-like and not just Christians." But yeah, when they got all uppity he made them look like idiots.

now that i know what it is, i'd love to see it. being a skeptic, or athiest, these kinds of movies really pique my interest. usually, when someone that has the scientific standpoint or the skeptic side takes something like this in a very well mannered fashion, it's the religious people that act rude and refuse to answer questions. the trailer looked great... i'm gonna have to get this vid!

Given that it's Maher, I'm sure that it will be completely balanced and unbiased, and will NOT serve as a platform for his enormous ego.
I have nothing against his views or opinions (some I even agree with), but he's as bad as Rush Limbaugh for simply talking over people who don't share his views. I remember watching him belittle and shout over pro-lifers on "Politically Incorrect" simply because they disagreed with his opinion.

Like I said, There is some of that. Actually less than I expected though.grimmbass wrote:Given that it's Maher, I'm sure that it will be completely balanced and unbiased, and will NOT serve as a platform for his enormous ego.

And remember, he is a comedian first and foremost. So yeah when shit gets too deep for him he'll dismiss it with a joke.

i just watched it last night...
very eye opening. i've always considered myself agnostic at best, but i am a complete skeptic. this movie really opened my eyes up to what muslims believe in. and what they're trying to accomplish. so for that, excellent movie.
it really showed the lack of open mindedness that some christians have. and the fact that they will follow faith pretty blindly. so for that, excellent movie.
it was well rounded. i thought anyway. bill really has a message with this movie. and he explains it at the end. know what's funny? i've felt the same way for a long time. if we want the world to go on, well, we gotta take a long hard look at the middle east and ourselves asa nation and what the people that make these places up believe in... and what they're willing to do to accomplish what their religion believes in... it's scary. just plain and outright scary.
