I just got a the guitar new. Im terribly disappointed because the guitar has no low end. I have a Marshall TSL 100 Watt head and a 1960 A cab. Anyone have any ideas on how to get more low end? It sounds really bright.

wich pickups are in it? the duncans or the active emg's? what settings are you using on your e.q.? you could try bringing your mids down and bumping your bass up slightly. what strings are on it? what kinda picks do you use? there are all sorts of factors that can make it sound real bright.
Can you identify a genital wart?
There's always a learning curve with new stuff. Could be alot of stuff, if you can't cure it with EQ you could change the tone pots out to a lower value ( I'm assuming they are humbuckers with 500k tone pots, 250K tonepots would take some highs out )
Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.

whats the body made of? there are monumental differences especially in the esp family with the type of woods used. Is it the les paul style? there has been an occasion where the pickups were wired wrong too. my ec400 did not have a lot of low end either.

If your guitar has an EMG 81/85 combo swap the pickups around.
The '85 has way more low end than an '81 and it will give you the results that you're looking for.
The 81 and 85 have the same output, but they are voiced differently for their respective locations.
I currently have 3 guitars with an '85/ 18v mod in them and they are brutal sounding.
Not all guitars respond the same, because of the tone wood used as Chad pointed out.
I'm thinking that your EC-1000 is mahogany, so the 85 would be tits for your set-up.
I'm assuming that you dont have the '81/'60 combo.
The '60 is ok in the bridge as well, but it has slightly less output than the 81 or 85 and it's alot darker.
Throw on a set of 10-48's or even add a .50 or .52 low E string and swap those pups around and you'll be well on your way.
The EMG's have a quik connect, so it's as simple as unplugging the pups and plugging them back in.
I highly recommend the 18v mod as well.
If you have any questions or need some help, pm me and I'll do my best to help you out.

Also, that Marshall that you're using isn't really an amp known for alot of low end.
Most Marshalls are more pronounced in the mid and upper end of their EQ settings.
That's a tube amp, correct? I can't remember if it is full tube or Solid State with a Tube Preamp section.
If it's tube, you can try to swap out your tubes for another brand, or even have it rebiased as is.
The 1960 cab has a scooped mid voice to it and it doesn't cut very well.
I'm using a 1960B (straight cab) and I sealed mine from the inside and that there helped get the crunch that I was going for.
It made the sound (especially the low end) much tighter than it was originally.
I'm using a Marshall 9200 Poweramp and it's really the only Marshall that I've owned that has alot of low end, but then again my buddy had a Marshall DSL head and it was really awesome. Your TSL head is the big brother to the DSL.
There's alot of little tricks and mods that you can do that will cost next to nothing.
I have some more things for you to try out, but I cant give out all of my secrets
Get ahold of me and I'll help you get this thing rippin.

I have an '85 if you wanna try it out, let me know.
That's the pup that you want for that, trust me.
As far as the tubes, those can be personal preference, but I'm using Tung-Sol's in mine.
Do you know when they were changed last? It's recommended that they are changed every 1-1/2 years atleast. Sooner if you play it alot and drive the power tubes hard. (playing loudly)
You can try the '60 in the brodge, but you'll probably end up adding some high-mids and high's to compensate for their muddy character.
Another trick to get more high end is to disconnect your tone pots.
The best thing is to work with what you have already as opposed to buying a bunch of stuff right away.

Your pickups will lose some output and crunch if the 9v battery is going dead.
Check that as well.
You can definitely get your sound to where you want it that's for sure.
You have a nice little set-up there and it has alot of potential and it's a great starting point.
Preamp tubes are around $12-15.00 and you can change them out without worrying about re-biasing or anything.
Try that as well.
I'm using Electro-Harmonix 12AX7's and 12AT7's in my Marshall poweramp and Tung Sol 12AX7's in my Engl preamp.
I might even have some preamp tubes laying around here if you want to try them out.
