ANOTHER GESTAPO NOISE BUST!

Post by lonewolf »

On Friday, 8/29, Victory Lane became the latest local victim on the PLCB's witchhunt for noise. They were having that notoriously loud band called "karaoke". Yep, karaoke. My first thought was that it caused all the dogs in the neighborhood to bark, but it was just a "routine check". There was no complaint, just a PLCB drive-by. The neighbors never heard a thing. That's government gone wild.

I played there Saturday (4th) to a nice crowd, although nobody there ever heard of Rockpage.net. I told Nancy about the petition and it looks as though we have another owner on board.

I have done my part in drafting the legislation, but I can't handle the organizational aspects of this issue. Hell, I have trouble handling junk mail. I would like to see members re-engage this discussion and decide on the organization. For those of you who don't know about it, its under the section called "THE LAW".

Was this Just last night? I was at Victory Lane last weekend on a Saturday night and they were saying how they just got busted Friday for kareoke.

Is this twice back to back or just a late report of news from last week?

Either way it's bullshit but if it's twice back to back I think something is seriously wrong here.

It was 8/29, so that was last week. It was the incident they told you about last weekend. Nancy just told me about it at my gig last night.

Enough is enough

On 8/24 I asked where we are supposed to be sending signature sheets to and I've gotten no answer. Is this just going to be another one of those things that everyone sits on their asses and does nothing about while all our friends are getting shut down and fined for doing what is in their hearts? Why can't anyone decide to get this ball really rolling??? I've had more than enough of the fines, PLCB and the musicians on here bitching about the whole situation.........DAMN IT DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!! Everyone has their own ideas of what to do and everyone bitchs about it but NO ONE seems to want to really do anything??? Are you scared of the law or standing up for yourself and your fellow musicians??? You all do realize that if this continues, no one will be playing anywhere to anyone. Is this what everyone wants??? I know I don't. I have gotten as many signatures on the petition as I possibly can but have no information as to what to do with them now or even any idea if it's going to matter. I can't believe that more hasn't been done to at least try to get a solution for this problem. IT IS TIME TO GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND STOP YOUR DAMN BITCHING AND WHINING AND DO SOMETHING OR EVERYONE MIGHT AS WELL JUST SELL THE INSTRUMENTS NOW AND FORGET ABOUT EVER PLAYING ANYWHERE IN ALTOONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I've not gotten any response from the last post I put on here, this one will not only be posted here but in "The Law" as well.

I have yet to hear any bar/club owner say anything about this. Are they supporting this or are they too blowing smoke as well. Come on people if music is so important to you then lets do something before we have nothing.

It's a fair question and a legit gripe that nobody quite knows what to do with the signatures, so since somebody has to step up. . fine

Send them to me

Petition signatures
C/O E. Vincent Kelly
P.O. Box 692
Duncansville PA
16635

Once I have them and can count them, I'll talk to JP & Lone wolf and few others of you and we'll decide how to submit them.

So should we reconsider that clause I mentioned about violations must be a result of a complaint ? Or would this make things less likely to go through? Should we just get a set level so we can police ourselves and let it ride?

By the way : Thanks to Lonewolf and Vinny for your efforts

That's the idea of a set level, complaint or no complaint, if you are under the Db level.....no fine, not even a warning,

anyway send the petitions to me and I'll count the names and so forth and then we can figure out how to best to present them to the government but first things first we need all the signatures (so far) in one place

BUMP!

I know that with the end of summer, everybody has been busy (myself included). Now that the weather is cooling off and everything is heading back indoors, I thought I'd encourage everybody to redirect some energies and attention to getting signatures on this petition.

If you are a band or musician who performs in a bar in Pennsylvania, this issue impacts you and your livelihood! So please, EVERYBODY, take an interest and do your part in this effort - don't push it off on the other guy. It's not difficult to get involved - just print out the petition (in "The Law" forum), make some copies of it, and take the petition to your gigs this weekend (and the next several weekends, for that matter). Keep the petition onstage, and invite people to come sign it during the intermissions.

One important point - tell people that if they have already signed the petition, they don't need to sign it again. One signature per person is enough; if people re-sign the petition, it could do more harm than good and diminish the petition's effectiveness.

When you have filled up your petitions, send them to the address Fatvin has posted above, so we can gather them all up in one place.

I plan to be taking the petition around myself in the next several weeks - and I will have it at Aldo's next weekend (Oct. 1-2) for "The Underground TV" kick off parties.

Keep in mind, that although we would like to see the PLCB noise rules and policies changed as soon as possible, that we can make a greater impact if we take the time needed to gather as many signatures as possible, rather than do a rush job and send less signatures. More signatures are better and will make a greater impact. Also, if we can time this out so that the petitions arrive at a strategic time (like, say, when business reconvenes after the holidays), they will likely have more impact than if they arrive before the holidays or at some other random time.

But the important thing, let's build this thing and keep it rolling!
